It’s 2016, The Yoga Bank and Jackie Quayle came into my awareness, they had a stand at The Yoga Show in Manchester.
I had just accepted redundancy from my role as a Primary Healthcare Manager, working for Reckitt Benckiser, in the NHS. I had a bad back, I was a bit lost and practicing my hobby of yoga more and more. It helped with my back, it also helped with my anxiety about what I should do next, work wise.
After the show, I visited the studio in Widnes and did a yoga class with Jackie and not long after, signed up for a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course with her. I wasn’t intending to teach, I just enjoyed my hobby of yoga and wanted more knowledge.
The rest, as they say, is history, lots of training later, with Jackie and others, I have a wonderful community sharing regular weekly classes with me. I have my own yoga studio with accommodation, Peace Yoga Barn in the Lake District. I run my own retreats there and also support other teachers and group leaders to host a retreat of their dreams with their communities.
I basically owe the fact that I teach people yoga down to Jackie. I am so grateful to her because I’m not sure I would have had the confidence to become a yoga teacher under anyone else’s direction.
She has a lot of love to give, she feels things deeply, she really cares, she’s a great giver of hugs. She’s not perfect, she has a potty mouth, at times, she has strong opinions. Loads of conviction for what she believes, she says it how it is, with a few swear words for good measure. She’s a warrior, may be viewed as the goddess Kali?
Her yoga knowledge is immense, her story telling of mythology is legendary.
How blessed are we - she has just started a podcast, I have listened to the first one and loved it. It is going to be so successful because it’s Jackie warts and all, authentic and fascinating as ever.
Here’s the link to last week’s first episode, the second one is due out today or tomorrow, enjoy 🙏🏼
