A client said something recently that really stayed with me.
โ€œ๐˜ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฏโ€™๐˜ต ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ถ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ ๐˜โ€™๐˜ฅ ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ.โ€
From the outside, they were still performing well.

But internally, everything felt heavier than it should. Decisions were taking longer. Their thinking felt crowded. Conversations stayed in their head long after theyโ€™d ended.

We spent some time talking about the brain and how it responds and reacts, which helped them to understand how the ripple effect of working with the pressure ripples out. Feeling the benefits in areas not just work-related.

The internal interference changed

Decisions became cleaner.
Communication felt easier.
The constant mental processing settled.

And I think thatโ€™s the part many people miss.
Pressure often becomes normal long before it becomes sustainable.

This makes it even harder to see in your team, as this becomes your norm too, which leads to a slippery slope for all.

One of the things Iโ€™ve noticed over time is that reliable people often become quieter before they become visibly overwhelmed.

๐ŸŸ  They still do the work.
๐ŸŸฃ Still show up.
๐Ÿ”ต Still meet expectations.

๐—•๐˜‚๐˜ ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ณ๐˜๐˜€ ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ต.

They contribute a little less.
Hold more internally.
Withdraw slightly without fully realising it themselves.
And because theyโ€™re still functioning well externally, it rarely gets picked up early.

One of the quieter effects of pressure is how much mental energy gets lost to overthinking.

๐ŸŸข Replaying conversations.
๐ŸŸฃ Going back over decisions.
๐Ÿ”ต Second-guessing things that would normally feel straightforward.

From the outside, it can look like someone is simply being careful or conscientious.
But internally, thereโ€™s often a growing level of cognitive overload sitting underneath it.

And over time, that starts affecting clarity, confidence and the speed decisions get made.
Not because capability has disappeared.

But because too much mental energy is being lost to internal interference.

Usually, what leaders are noticing is something real.

Meetings feel flatter somehow.
