Let’s be honest, keeping track of everyone’s special day is a full time logistical operation.

Half the time we’re celebrating that we remembered the card while quietly praying we didn’t accidentally leave it on the kitchen counter as we rushed out the door after spending 20 minutes looking for our keys (which we eventually found in the fridge)

But those physical reminders of our love- the beautifully wrapped gift, the handwritten card, the post-it note in their lunch, they are always worth the effort.

In a digital world of instant messaging and constant communication, taking the time to physically create, write or send something to someone is such a beautiful way to say “you matter”.

And even if you don’t think they appreciate it, they definitely do.

I admit, putting my phone under the laser cutter in the name of the gram, not my best idea 😂

But on the plus side, I do get to share a cool new view of our laser cut cards being made.

Thankfully it survived and all is good. ADHD has a lot to answer for. 🤦‍♀️

For the record, please do not do this.

Long live the keepers of the paper trail.

There is a distinct magic to the way we grew up. We lived in a gloriously tactile world; that place between analog and digital.

We knew the anticipation of waiting for our photos to develop, the heartbreak of a snapped tape ribbon and the thrill of finding a hand-addressed envelope in the post.

If you spent your teenage years spraying Impulse on handwritten letters or agonising over your handwriting in a new journal, you were training for this.

You aren’t old-fashioned for wanting to send an intricately laser cut card instead of a WhatsApp message.

Your favourite people deserve more than words on a screen and photographs in the cloud.

I’m Emma, and I create pieces of paper art in my Cornwall studio for the sentimental girlies who never lost their wonder.

We don’t make regular greeting cards.

We make the kind of greeting cards that make people leave reviews like this:

“The quality of the item is exquisite”

“Fabulous card, will be kept as a keepsake by the person who received it”

“My sister-in-law is going to LOVE this card made especially for her.”

These are just a handful of the 20k+ 5 star reviews we’ve received. Take a look over on our website if you want to see more nice things people have said about our cards.

Hills I will die on as a self-proclaimed sentimentalaholic…

1- excessively effortful is always worth it. Make the gift by hand, decorate the gift wrap with pretty ribbons, write a beautiful letter. No thoughtful gesture will go unnoticed.

2- trinkets are a need, not a want. No explanation needed here. Just buy the pretty little thing, just because it brings you joy.

3- keeping old cards and letters is an investment for future you. One day you’ll open a memory box, find something written just for you by someone you love and it’ll be the closest thing you can get to a hug from them.

4- hands down the best thing to come out of social media is the “you have memories to look back on” notification. Sure, some of it is cringe (remember throwing sheep at friends and writing status updates in 3rd person?!), but every so often you come across a long-forgotten memory that hits you right in the feels.

5- order of preferred birthday/holiday greetings-
• handmade and handwritten cards
•printed cards from a small business
•generic mass produced cards
•text messages
•social media messages
•emails
And never ever an e-card 😂

What have I missed out? Let me know in the comments!

Add some nostalgic happy feels to greeting cards by turning them into a mix tape.

Create your memory-filled playlist on Spotify.

When you’re ready, tap the 3 dots at the top right of the playlist and scroll down to ‘show Spotify code’ (right at the bottom)

It’ll give you a barcode and the option to save to photos. From there, you can print it as you would print any picture from your phone, or email it to yourself so you can print it from a computer if you’re old-school like me.

Stick the printed out code inside a greeting card and you got yourself a mixtape and card all in one!

Save this post for future you, you’ll be so glad you did. Also, if you like found it helpful, be sure to follow for more greeting card inspiration, thoughtful gift ideas and general stationery appreciation.

Puzzle purse photo Christmas decorations are inbound! (Note to self- work on their name- it’s about as easy to say as it was to work out how to make them)

These paper-folding pieces of witchcraft shouldn’t work, but somehow they do! I just wish I’d filmed my first 387 attempts at getting them right.

Puzzle purses were popular in the Victorian era — a way of sending secret messages, hidden poems and romantic messages, with each layer unfolding to reveal something. They often had a tiny keepsake in the centre, sometimes even a lock of hair!

We’ll be adding these to our shops as soon as we get them back from the printers.

Is anyone else obsessed with the light in September?

It’s just so beautiful.

September had always been my favourite month. I’m definitely an autumn. 🍂

Bring back a simpler time…

I miss just posting things I love and things that inspire me. I don’t want to worry about trending audio and hooks and engagement levels.

I want to go back to the days of posting a photo of my meal because it looked yummy, a beautiful coloured door, pretty things I spotted on a walk, or what I’m working on now.

While we’re at it, let’s bring back sending postcards, dial telephones, listening to cassettes, printing out our photos and sending birthday cards instead of texts.

Those were the good old days.

Who is with me? What else do we need to bring back?
