🛩️🌫️ Due to a weather advisory for the islands this afternoon, Archie will not make his clinic on St Mary's today. Reception will be in touch with patients who had appointments today to rearrange them.

The weather looks good for Archie's flight to the Isles of Scilly for his clinic today. His family are a vehicle down at the moment so his mode of transport to get to the airport was this 1957 motorbike and side car. So if he smells slightly oily today, that's why! 🛵🛩️

🌡️☀️ With temperatures on the rise, please remember to take care of yourself and those around you. Simple things like drinking plenty of water 💧, keeping your home cool by keeping curtains drawn 🏡, wearing light, loose clothing 👕 cooling wrists and face with a cool flannel, and avoiding the midday sun can make a big difference.

❌ The gravel driveway directly outside the clinic is for residents only – please do not park or wait here (highlighted in red on our map).

✅ Suggested parking:
• In the parking bays on the square just before the gravel driveway
• On nearby streets (highlighted in green on our map)

🅿️ If you’re happy with a short walk (around 5 minutes):
Tesco, Branwell Lane offers up to 3 hours free parking

Allow a little extra time before your appointment to park and walk over comfortably

Heading off on a long journey? 🚗✈️

Sitting for extended periods can lead to stiffness in the neck, shoulders, and lower back. Taking regular breaks ⏱️ to stand, stretch, and walk around helps keep your body moving and reduces tension.

Even 2 minutes walking up and down a layby can make a significant difference. We recommend stopping every 1-2 hours if possible.

Simple things like adjusting your seat position 🪑, supporting your lower back, and keeping your shoulders relaxed can make a big difference.

When you arrive, gentle movement or a short walk 🚶‍♂️ can help your body reset after travel. The main thing we recommend is to not immediately unload your luggage. Your back is most vulnerable after sitting for long periods. Leave the bags for half an hour.

Archie's top tip: Lifting from a car boot is difficult to do with good lifting posture so give your body the best chance by not rushing it.

A little preparation goes a long way in keeping you comfortable on your journey ✨
