Community pharmacy is at its strongest when we come together. This June, CPE are coming to the East – Newmarket on Tuesday 9th June.

This isn't a briefing you sit through and forget. It's an open, honest conversation with the people who negotiate your funding — including your regional rep and our Chair Anil Sharma, the CPE executive team, committee members and Professor Dame Jenny Harries.

You'll get the unfiltered story behind the latest funding negotiations. More importantly, you'll have a direct hand in shaping what comes next through live table exercises and open Q&A.

Your voice. Your priorities. Your contract.

Great discussion at the recent Fenland and East Cambridgeshire Health and Care Forum, bringing together partners to share updates on local health and care services.

Key updates included the start of enabling works at the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital site, with the bus stop relocation already underway and the old car park due for demolition in the summer to make way for the new build. There are also plans for a new endoscopy department at the hospital, with learning from this expected to be shared with North Cambridgeshire Hospital, and continued work to strengthen urgent care services, including a focus on meeting the 4-hour A&E standard and reducing corridor care.

We also heard that the Fenland area continues to face challenges with transport links, but local services such as FACT are helping bridge the gap through dial-a-ride services, volunteer drivers (currently only one in post due to recruitment challenges), and minibus hire. Community Hubs are also supporting residents through befriending groups, community fridges across five sites, and new initiatives including a Coffee Shack and Men’s Shed.

Community pharmacy services were also highlighted, including seven community pharmacies in the Wisbech area and expanded support through Pharmacy First. Updates also included the NHS 111 Emergency Supply Service, Discharge Medicines Service, and New Medicine Service, helping people access medicines more quickly, support safe discharge from hospital, and improve long-term condition management.

A really useful session highlighting both system pressures and the ongoing commitment to improving access and support for local communities. Take a look at our upcoming events here: https://ow.ly/Zo1A50YJPpr

There are just a few days left to report your experiences of the intense challenges facing community pharmacy.

The Pharmacy Pressures Survey 2026 is your chance to feed into a national evidence base on medicine supply, workforce issues, workload, stress, and patient demand. The daily reality can only be accurately represented if as many owners and team members as possible respond.

By taking part before 10am on Monday 13th April, you can help demonstrate pharmacy’s struggles and strengthen the case put to policymakers. Your stories will form an important dataset to build support from politicians, the public, and NHS leaders.
