Alton-based autism assistance dog charity Dogs for Autism has won home care provider Bluebird Care’s new £1,000 community grant.

We're delighted to announce that Dogs for Autism has won our Community Grant for the inspiring work they do supporting autistic people and their families! 👏🐕

Through the power of specially trained assistance dogs, the charity helps people with autism gain confidence, independence and emotional support, while providing greater peace of mind to their families. 🙌

When awarding the grant, we met 11-year-old Jon and his assistance dog, Casper, a four-year-old cavapoochon bred and trained by the charity. Casper has made a profound difference to Jon's life, helping him settle and sleep through the night and providing calming support when out in the community. 😍

Jon's mum, Kelly, said: "The simple presence of a furry friend changed everything for us. Jon and Casper became inseparable, and the love they share is evident in every cuddle and every moment spent together." 💙

Today, our team took part in a Makaton Workshop led by our Care Team Supervisor, Amanda, who is Level 3 Makaton trained. 💙

The session focused on helping our care assistants recognise commonly used Makaton signs and building confidence in introducing themselves using Makaton.

Congratulations to Nicol on being awarded Care Assistant of the Month! 🌟

Nicol has provided incredible continuity and support over the past year, mainly in the SEN schools where we support, and always ready to step in and support our lovely customers across the community with dedication.

Her bubbly personality and passion shine through in everything she does, and to make the celebration even more special, Mr M joined in with tea and cake to celebrate her achievement! 🍰

We had a brilliant time hosting our Hogmoor Community Walk alongside East Hampshire Primary Care Network! 🚶🏻🚶🏻‍♀️

The weather was fabulous and afterwards we enjoyed some well-earned refreshments and even had time for a Lego competition! 💙☀️

Today, our team received additional training from the Specialist Teacher Advisory Service for Visual Impairment at Hampshire County Council.

The session enhanced our understanding of effective techniques, communication, and positioning when supporting people living with visual impairments, helping us continue to provide safe and compassionate care.

A big thank you to Maria for sharing her knowledge and expertise with the team. 💙
