💚 Supporting Our Local Community 💚

Today, a lovely lady from Elder Tree Befriending Service popped into First Steps and asked if we would be happy to display their volunteer flyer.

As a community-focused organisation, we feel it is important to support the people, charities and services doing worthwhile things for residents across Plymouth. Sometimes helping can be as simple as displaying a flyer or sharing a post and helping their message reach a few more people. 💚
So, as a small gesture of support, we wanted to share their flyer with our followers.

Elder Tree Befriending Service is currently looking for volunteers who may be able to spare just one hour a week to offer companionship and a listening ear to an older person.
If you have a little time to give and would like to find out more, their contact details can be found on the flyer.
And even if volunteering isn't possible for you at the moment, we would really appreciate you sharing this post. A simple share may help it reach someone who has the time to get involved. 🌳

A polite reminder from the team at Derriford Therapies 💙

We feel it is important to remind everyone that abusive, aggressive, intimidating or disrespectful behaviour towards our team will not be tolerated.

We completely understand that healthcare concerns, personal circumstances and financial pressures can be frustrating and emotional. We will always listen to concerns, answer reasonable questions and do our very best to resolve any problems professionally and compassionately.

However, there is a clear difference between raising a complaint and verbally abusing or intimidating a member of staff.

Our team are human too. You never know what somebody standing behind a reception desk or treatment-room door may be dealing with in their own life. Please treat them with the same kindness and respect that you would expect to receive yourself.

We are a private healthcare clinic and our treatment prices reflect much more than the physical products or materials used during an appointment. They include professional expertise, clinical time, specialist equipment, premises, regulatory requirements and the many costs involved in providing a safe and professional healthcare service.

We will always be transparent about the price of treatment before it is provided, and patients are under absolutely no obligation to proceed if they do not feel that a treatment represents good value for them. We also fully respect everyone’s right to choose another healthcare provider.

What we cannot accept is our staff being subjected to abuse, personal comments, accusations or intimidation because somebody disagrees with our pricing or services.

Where behaviour towards our team crosses that line, we reserve the right to refuse further treatment and ask the individual to leave the premises.

We are incredibly grateful to the overwhelming majority of our patients who treat our team with kindness and respect. It genuinely means a great deal to us.

Please be kind. Please be respectful. Abuse of our team will not be tolerated.

💚 Charity: Help Us Choose Our Next Local Cause

Every year, we usually hold a Macmillan Coffee Morning to raise money for a great cause. However, with the clinic getting busier, it’s becoming harder to organise the event in a way that works for everyone and to fit everyone into the clinic comfortably.

So, this year, we’re trying something a little different! 🎉

From October through to December, we’re going to dedicate three months to raising money for charity at Derriford Therapies.

We’d really love to support a local charity that makes a difference in our community, and we’d love your help choosing who to support.

Just a quick update to let everyone know that our booking system, Cliniko, is currently experiencing a global outage.

Unfortunately, this means we’re temporarily unable to book, amend or access appointments while the issue is being resolved.

The Cliniko team is aware of the problem and is working hard to get everything back up and running as quickly as possible. We’re hoping the service will be restored soon.
