A Sad Goodbye to Alfie 💙
Today we have to share some sad news.
After years of struggling since COVID, rising costs and changing shopping habits have taken their toll. Sadly, we can no longer afford to keep Alfie on. This wasn’t a decision we ever wanted to make, but one we have had to make to give our business the best chance of surviving.
We’re incredibly proud of Alfie as he starts a new chapter with Stagecoach, training to become a bus driver. We wish him every success. He’ll be greatly missed by us and by so many of our customers.
This is a difficult reminder of the challenges facing independent retailers. We know online shopping is convenient, but every purchase made elsewhere makes it harder for local shops like ours to survive.
We’re now having to rethink our business model so we can continue serving our community. While we can’t compete with online prices, we can offer personal service, expert advice, and those last-minute purchases that simply can’t wait for a delivery.
