This morning we enjoyed a trip to Tamar Nurseries, having a mooch around the shop and garden centre. We had originally planned to visit the Hoe, but the weather had other ideas, so we changed our plans and made the most of a different adventure instead 🪴🪏🌸

To top it off, this afternoon we were delighted to welcome Lola the therapy dog for a visit. She brought lots of joy and cuddles making a wonderful end to a lovely day 🐾❤️

From cheese tasting to creative crafting, it’s been a day full of smiles at Torr Home! 🧀🍦🎨

Residents celebrated World Cheese Day by sampling a selection of cheeses before getting hands-on with a sensory ice cream craft, exploring colours, textures and scents. We also enjoyed some peaceful 1-to-1 time outdoors with a stroll around our beautiful grounds 🪻🌞🌷🌻

It’s been a fun filled day at Torr Home! 🌟

Residents enjoyed a trip to Tamar View Nurseries Garden Centre, a visit from our lovely hairdresser Karen, and an afternoon of music and movement with Katy from Music Makers. 🎶💇‍♀️🍰

Today is also World Cheese Day, and we're looking forward to celebrating with a cheese tasting session on Monday 8th June! 🧀

What a wonderful afternoon at Torr Home with Katy from Music Makers! 🎶💃🏽

Residents enjoyed a fun-filled session of music, movement and gentle exercise, with plenty of smiles all around. It's amazing to see how music brings people together, lifts spirits and gets everyone moving.

After missing out on our usual minibus trips last week due to the scaffolding going up, it was lovely to get back out and about today! 🚐☕

We enjoyed a trip to Otter Garden Centres, where we treated ourselves to tea and cake and spent some time looking around. The weather certainly kept us on our toes, with a few heavy downpours to dodge, but that didn’t stop us from having a wonderful afternoon together.

It was great to be back on the road and enjoying a change of scenery! 🌧️🍰🌺

Today we made grass seed heads 🌱

The residents loved getting involved in this fun, messy activity, especially adding their own faces so that when the grass starts to grow, it will look like green hair! 😂 We joked, “More hair than what I’ve got now!” which gave everyone a good laugh.

A lovely afternoon filled with smiles and creativity… now we patiently wait for the hair to grow! 💚

Torr Home, one of Plymouth’s oldest and most established care homes, is looking for a dedicated Cook/Chef to join our friendly catering team on a permanent basis.

Based within our beautiful grounds in Hartley, this is a varied and rewarding role preparing high-quality, freshly made meals and baking for our residents.

What we offer:
🍽️ Permanent position
🍽️ 3–4 days per week
🍽️ Shifts: 7.30am – 3pm
🍽️ Training and uniform provided
🍽️ Free on-site parking
🍽️ Discounted meals whilst on duty
🍽️ DBS paid for by Torr Home
🍽️ Premium rate available for qualified chefs

We’re looking for someone passionate about cooking, hardworking, reliable, and ready to become part of our caring and dedicated team.
