Seborrhoeic keratoses on the upper eyelid — can they be removed?

Seborrhoeic keratoses are common, benign skin growths. However, when they develop on the eyelids, they can become noticeable, catch on clothing or cause irritation.

This patient had several lesions on her upper eyelid, which were treated with shave excision.

The procedure removes the raised part of the lesion while carefully preserving the surrounding skin. As you can see in the after photos, the area has healed very well, with minimal scarring.

What were these raised lesions in the armpit?

This patient had several pedunculated lesions in the axilla (armpit) — raised lesions attached to the skin by a narrow base.

On assessment, they were identified as seborrhoeic keratoses, which are common benign skin lesions.

Because raised lesions in the armpit can catch on clothing and become irritated, removal may be considered when appropriate.
