This gentleman presented with a rapidly growing lesion on the back of his hand that had developed over a period of two months and had become painful. He had previously attended his GP surgery and was reassured that it appeared to be a benign wart.
However, based on both the clinical appearance and the history of rapid growth, I had concerns that it could represent a skin cancer, so formal excision was arranged. Histology later confirmed a squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), a type of skin cancer.
I’m pleased to say the lesion was completely treated, and healing has progressed very well. This photo was taken 5 months after the procedure.
