Did you know that April is Rosacea Awareness Month?

At Mid Yorkshire Skin Clinic, we see so many patients who feel frustrated or even stigmatised by their skin’s redness. One of the biggest hurdles to finding relief is navigating the sea of “myths” that suggest rosacea is simply a result of lifestyle choices or poor hygiene.

The truth? Rosacea is a complex, chronic medical condition driven by genetics and neurovascular dysregulation. It’s not a “flaw” to be hidden, and it certainly isn’t your fault.

Swipe through to see 6 of the most common myths we hear in the clinic and the medical facts behind them. ➡️

Understanding the why behind your skin’s behavior is the first step toward effective management. If you’re tired of “magic potions” and ready for a clinical approach to rosacea relief, we are here to help.

As we age, it’s natural for our lips to lose a little of their structural volume and hydration.

Dermal filler can gently restore what time has diminished, while carefully preserving the unique lip print, proportions and edges.

A full medical consultation is required before any treatment to ensure suitability.

In an industry often crowded by transient “miracle” treatments and complex additives, true skin health is found in the science of cellular regeneration. With a decade of experience as a clinical skin therapist, my focus remains on evidence-based modalities that respect the skin’s natural biological processes.

Skin Microneedling has remained a clinical gold standard for decades for one reason: it works. While fads cycle in and out of the market, the biological process of neocollagenesis, the synthesis of new collagen and elastin through controlled wounding, is a physiological fact that doesn’t go out of style.

Precision Over Poly-Pharmacy
My protocol is intentionally streamlined and disciplined. I perform microneedling with singular intention, utilising a premium CE-marked medical grade device and a high-quality hyaluronic acid glide.

I purposefully omit the “cocktails” of the moment, such as serums with active ingredients, exosomes or polynucleotides, for a specific clinical reason: Molecular Integrity. Many of these advanced serums are biochemically designed for deeper, targeted injection or to leave on the surface of the skin. Attempting to “needle” them into the epidermis often bypasses their intended delivery method and introduces unnecessary variables into the healing process.

Clinical Integrity, Not “Fluff”
We don’t need the aggressive thermal disruption of devices like Morpheus 8, or the distraction of ice globes and multi-step facials. To achieve a transformation in clarity, skin texture, the reduction of hyperpigmentation, and the refinement of scarring, we focus on:

Mechanical Excellence: Precise needle entry to minimise epidermal trauma.

Pure Mediums: Using only a sterile, medical-grade glide to ensure safety.

Phototherapy: Concluding with Dermalux LED to optimise the cellular repair environment.

When we remove the gimmicks, we allow your skin’s own regenerative power to take centre stage. There is no need to “stack” treatments when the primary modality is performed with expertise.

Invest in longevity, not the newest fad. If you are ready to begin a science-led journey to healthier skin, I invite you to book a consultation via the link in the bio.

A well structured assessment reveals just as much as a clinical examination in so many cases that we see in Clinic. In fact listening and giving the patient chance to provide their account of their condition is probably the most important tool we have. The clinical examination usually just helps to confirm what we have already established.

Our patient pictured here had been treated for around six years by a number of professionals with little to no improvement of what was being treated as acne. This was actually rosacea, and it responded surprisingly well to a combination of topical creams and some straight forward treatment in clinic.

We find that the success of treatment in patients with rosacea relies on the understanding of the condition, and the individual assessment. Multiple factors contribute to the development and appearance of the varying subtypes of rosacea. So it follows that we should utilise a treatment plan that combines modalities that can manage each factor.

Within CQC Registered premises we provide a wide range of treatment options from specialised vascular laser, normally used in hospital settings, to bespoke formulations of prescription medicines to help manage the symptoms of rosacea.

Is your current skin regime missing the mark?

At our clinic, we start with your story. If you’re ready for an individual assessment and a bespoke treatment plan tailored to your specific subtype of rosacea, we are here to help.

This type of lesion goes by all sorts of names: port-wine stain, birthmark, and vascular malformation. They commonly affect the face, the scalp, and as seen here, the neck.

Removing these can be tricky, with risks of scarring, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation. This becomes even more challenging with higher Fitzpatrick skin types, like in this case. What truly makes a difference is referring back to the evidence and developing a treatment plan that respects the patient’s individuality.

Having a tuneable vascular laser like our Derma V system with 2 wavelengths and very adjustable parameters helps, but Dan’s clinical acumen makes the difference, understanding which parameters to utilise and when.

If you have a vascular lesion and want to discuss a safe, evidence-based approach to treatment, book a consultation with Dan to explore your options. Click the link in our bio to get started.

At first glance, it may appear as though the lighting in these two images differs significantly. Dan is no photographer, but we know that he prioritises consistent positioning and lighting angles for all clinical photography.

What you are observing here is not ‘trickery’ of position or lighting but the physiological result of an effective resurfacing laser.

By utilising fully ablative Carbon Dioxide (CO2) laser, we perform a controlled removal of the damaged epidermal layer while simultaneously delivering precise thermal energy to the underlying dermis. This dual-action approach ‘wipes out’ years of accumulated solar damage and textural noise, revealing a fresh, structurally rejuvenated surface with vastly improved light reflectivity.

While having access to both Fully Ablative and Fractional CO2 and Erbium:YAG devices is vital for customisation, the most critical factor remains the clinician’s ability to precisely interpret laser-skin interaction. Technology is the tool, but clinical expertise is the asset.

Due to the complexity of ablative resurfacing, a comprehensive clinical consultation is the mandatory first step. This is a thorough, diagnostic session where we map your skin’s history and structural needs to ensure the safest, most effective trajectory. To begin your skin restoration journey, please contact us to schedule your 1:1 clinical assessment.

This has been the most intense week that we’ve had all year, and honestly, I was worried about burnout 🥵 Dan saw I needed a reset and booked me this much-needed, impromptu spa day! It’s time to truly relax, reflect, and put some serious changes in place.

I’m making a firm commitment to better boundaries and self-care, and I’m putting it in writing here for accountability. Self-care isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. I hope this inspires you to take your own time to pause and commit to your well-being.

You may have noticed our quiet social media this year. Our time is best spent ensuring every detail is in order to serve you safely and effectively. Until then, our focus on renewal is stronger than ever. If you need us for a consultation, review, or information, our phone and email lines are always open. Take a moment for your own well-being today ❤️

Can’t wait to see the first page of Dan’s 1% diary 😬 Guess what will be in all employees Christmas boxes this year 😃
