How did that happen?

I love September as that’s when I got married. But I don’t like that it gets dark so early already.

This is the month I plan my winter makes.
Do you make any plans or do you just go with the flow?

I’ve already decided on a tank top/slipover or whatever they’re called these days made out of the new Sirdar Embers. I need a chunky cardigan so I’m going to see what patterns I’ve got here and decide which yarn I’d like to use.

Today is the start of the latest Stylecraft Crochetalong which is a gorgeous blanket called Love Letters to Autumn designed by Anita Gibney which is definitely getting cast on. I’ve loads of Special double knit in stock so come and choose your colours if you’re joining in.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday.

How are you using the extra day off?
I’ve been doing some repairs to previous makes. The bottom of a jumper had started to unravel so I’ve sorted that plus the button band on a cardigan was too tight plus I put the buttons on the wrong side. I’m just finishing sewing the buttons back on.

Sirdar are having an online sale this weekend.

I’m going to join them but I’m not online.

Sirdar Jewelspun Aran, chunky and Ombré are all 3 for the price of two Friday and Saturday.

You’ll have to visit the shop to have a squish and browse the patterns. You’ll also get advice about sizing, suitable colours and patterns which you don’t get online. Please support your local yarn shop as much as possible.

Happy Granny Square Day!

I love making granny square whether it’s traditional, solid or fancy.
You can make so many things with them from garments to bags to blankets.

I’ve selected a few squares I think are pretty.

Unfortunately Stylecraft have discontinued their gorgeous Bellissima double knitting yarn. It came in a good variety of shades with lovely patterns. To replace it they’ve enlarged the number of shades of Bambino which is marketed as a baby yarn but it’s suitable for anybody.
I haven’t got enough of any one colour left to make any of the patterns so I’ve put together 3 colour packs that can be used to make this cardigan up to size 36/38 inch bust. The yarn retails at £3.70 but you can buy the pack including the pattern for £18 which is a saving of over £7!
