A calorie is just a calorie.

Using calorie counting for weight loss? - then think again!

A calorie is merely the measurement of heat required to raise 1 gram of water by 1 degree Celsius.

1000 calories of junk food will not nourish your body like 1000 calories of wholesome foods will.

Alot of junk food contain empty calories.

Over my 30 year career I have had clients eat more calories and still lose weight - by eating their calories from wholesome foods!

Wholesome foods provide the nourishment required to regulate body weight and optimise health. Allowing the body to regulate its physiological processes - helping to manage a healthy weight.

Eating wholesome foods will release a hormone called leptin - which will satiate you - allowing you to curb hunger for longer periods - and will keep that hunger hormone 'ghrelin' at bay for longer periods. This will help control food intake and help nourish your body to help maintain a healthy weight for you.

Wholesome foods allow the digestive system to function well - a well functioning digestive system is the seat of our health - it keeps us healthy and functioning well - keeping illness and disease at bay, and helps with good mental health through the 'gut-brain axis'.

If research shows that lifestyle factors account for 90 to 95% of chronic illness and disease, then why is it that many people would rather take medication for life - that only treats the symptoms, and which may have many side effects, rather than changing their lifestyle factors? While, that underlying factor continues to wreak havoc with their health!

The Heart Meridian & Early Summer Energy

As we move deeper into the Fire Element season in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the focus begins shifting toward the Heart Meridian ❤️

Even though the weather here in the New Forest has cooled over the last week
the energy of Summer is still present beneath the surface.

In TCM, the Heart is connected not only to circulation, but also to:

✨ sleep
✨ mental clarity

The Heart thrives when life feels balanced and calm…
but modern life can easily leave this energy overstimulated.
