Ategi has been supporting and empowering people through our services to achieve positive changes in their lives for nearly 30 years. We pride ourselves on being a friendly charity with a reputation for offering excellent quality support. We have a committed team of staff, trustees, volunteers and a network of amazing independent Shared Lives carers, as well as the many people Ategi supports. We are passionate about the development of our dedicated staff and Shared Lives carers, and, through careful recruitment and training, we ensure that our values and approach is embedded in all the support we provide.

🌿 Giving back to our communities 🌿

During Shared Lives Weeks and as part of Ategi's continued contribution to , Ategi colleagues Joe, Nikki and Amy spent the day volunteering with , helping to improve their beautiful community gardens.

One of the day's biggest projects was revamping a pond and setting up a new filter system – check out the photos! 📸

The team also enjoyed meeting fellow volunteers, learning more about the work taking place at the gardens, and chatting about Shared Lives and the support Ategi provides in local communities.

Bev from Bloomin Well CIC said:

Community support is greatly appreciated, and it was lovely to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the space. We look forward to welcoming everyone back again in the future."

🎳🏆 Strike! What a fantastic Friday for our Ategi Community Support Bowling Group!

Our Ategi colleague Matthew, spent the day supporting Mark out in the community, enjoying some friendly competition at the bowling alley.

We’re delighted to share that Mark was the very first winner of a brand-new trophy kindly provided by Cardiff. 🏆👏

A huge congratulations to Mark on his achievement and for bringing home the trophy!

Moments like these are a great reminder of how community activities help build confidence, friendships, skills and independence while having plenty of fun along the way.

🌼 A Bloomin’ Marvellous Day! 🌼
What a fantastic day we had at Ategi’s Head Office as part of The Big Help Out! 💚

People we support and staff alike rolled up their sleeves, picked up their gardening gloves, and spent the day planting a wonderful mix of flowers and shrubs to brighten up our outdoor spaces. From colourful blooms to wildlife-friendly plants, every addition will help create a more welcoming environment for everyone who visits and works at Ategi.

The day was filled with teamwork, laughter, and plenty of muddy hands, proving that even small actions can make a big difference to the spaces we share. 🌱🌷

A huge thank you to our local Hawthorn and Rhydyfelin councillor Cathy Lisles and everyone who gave their time and energy to help transform our outdoor space. We can't wait to watch everything grow and flourish over the coming months.

Some people think adults with additional needs can’t live independently. That’s not true. Independence looks different for everyone, and with the right support, people can live full, happy lives in their communities.

Great to be part of the Supported Living Event at Sbectrwm, Cardiff on Saturday, where we joined people and organisations from across the sector to help raise awareness of accommodation and support options for individuals with additional needs exploring more independent living.

A special thank you to Anthony, who shared his personal experience of living in a long-term Shared Lives arrangement. His honest and inspiring insights prompted thoughtful questions from the audience and highlighted the positive impact Shared Lives can have in helping people live independently, confidently and as part of their community.

Together, we were proud to answer questions and showcase the different pathways available to support people in finding the right home and support for their future.
