๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Month, an international campaign held annually to raise awareness and support for children and young people affected by cancer.

Childhood cancer is rare, and many of the symptoms can be caused by more common childhood illnesses. However, if you notice persistent or unusual changes in your childโ€™s health, itโ€™s important to seek medical advice.

Symptoms that may warrant a check-up can include:
โ€ข Unexplained or persistent tiredness
โ€ข Unusual lumps or swelling
โ€ข Unexplained bruising or bleeding
โ€ข Persistent headaches or vomiting
โ€ข Unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite
โ€ข Ongoing pain
โ€ข Changes in vision or balance
โ€ข Recurrent or persistent infections

๐Ÿ’› Trust your instincts. If something about your childโ€™s health concerns you or symptoms persist, please speak to your GP.

Today, weโ€™re showing our support for children and families affected by cancer and helping to spread awareness. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

A big thank you to the wonderful residents and team at The Potteries Care Home (Care UK) who kindly invited some of our Carers Leads to lunch last week.

It was lovely to spend time together and hear more about the experiences of residents living with dementia.

The lunch and tables were beautifully prepared and hosted by the residents. We really appreciated the warm welcome and hospitality.

Weโ€™re proud to work alongside our local care homes to support people living with dementia and help promote their health, wellbeing.

Thank you for having us โ€” we look forward to seeing you again soon!

The solar eclipse will be visible across the South West this evening ๐ŸŒ”

Ordinary sunglasses - no matter how dark - allow harmful solar radiation to reach the retina and should not be used to view an eclipse.

If you want to use eclipse glasses make sure they are genuine with specially designed filters that meet the international safety standard.

An amber heat-health alert is in place across the South West from today until 14 August.

During an amber alert, hot weather can put more peopleโ€™s health at risk โ€“ not just those who are usually more vulnerable.

Older people, young children and people with existing health conditions may be particularly at risk.

Take extra care and look out for others who may struggle in the heat.

๐Ÿ’– Breastfeeding Awareness Week ๐Ÿ’–

The theme for 2026 is:

'Breastfeeding for a sustainable start in life: strengthen what works.'

This Breastfeeding Awareness Week, we celebrate the incredible benefits of breastfeeding for both babies and mothers. Breast milk provides the perfect nutrition, strengthens immunity, supports healthy growth and development, and creates a lifelong bond between mother and child.

Let's work together to create a community where every breastfeeding journey is supported with kindness, encouragement, and understanding.
