Healthwatch tells us that the number one subject that people in Dorset talk to us about is GP access. That is why one of their priorities this year is to find out how the national changes to the GP contract are impacting people in Dorset. It’s not too late to be a part of this project. They would love to hear your experiences, whether good or bad, about accessing your GP, so that they can understand the things that could be improved for you and your loved ones

Tell us about your experiences of NHS and social care services. Giving feedback, both good and bad, can help improve local services.

The Patients Association – join the Royal College of Physicians’ Patient and Carer Panel

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is looking for patients and carers to join its Falls and Fragility Fracture Audit Programme's patient and carer council. The panel brings together patients and carers with lived experience of fragility fractures and falls to help shape and improve the quality of care across the UK. Panel members provide valuable insights that inform its audits and ensure that the patient voice remains central to service improvement.

The panel provides an influential platform on which members can discuss their experiences as a patient or carer, identify areas for improvement and inform a variety of guidance and resources

If you're interested in being part of the panel, you can apply via the link below.

The Patient and Carer Panel is a group of dedicated patient and carer volunteers who support the Falls and Fragility Fractures Audit Programme (FFFAP).

Dorset Police – Beware of Scams exploiting hosepipe bans and the hot weather

Fraudsters are once again taking advantage of current events to target the public, with reports of criminals using recent hosepipe bans and the ongoing hot weather as hooks for new scams.
Fake Water Company Messages
Residents are being warned to look out for text messages, emails and phone calls claiming to be from water companies. These communications may invite you to:
• Check whether your area is affected by a hosepipe ban
• Apply for a free water-saving device or kit
• Update account or payment details
• Claim a refund or discount on your water bill
These messages can appear genuine, often using realistic branding and links to convincing websites. However, the aim is to steal personal information, banking details or account credentials.
Protect yourself:
✅ Contact your water supplier using details from their official website or a recent bill.
✅ Be cautious of unexpected messages containing links or requests for personal information.
✅ Never provide bank details unless you are certain who you are dealing with.
✅ Forward suspicious text messages to 7726 to help mobile networks identify and block scam messages.

The Friendly Food Club have told us about some exciting new challenge events that they have added to their events calendar.

Across Dorset, more than 380,000 people are at medium to high risk of food insecurity. This means that they don’t have access to enough healthy, nutritious food that is needed for growth, development and living healthy lives. By taking part in these challenges, you will be raising money that will give them the skills and confidence to change that.

Whether you are a keen walker, cyclist or want to jump out a plane at 15,000ft, they have the perfect event to challenge you. They also have access to around 50 events, including overseas adventures, so if you can’t find what you are looking for, or want additional information, please email Cameron at [email protected] and he will be able to help you.
