St Bryvyth Holy Well Lanlivery 20 August 2026

My friend LG, who hosted a recent exhibition of her art, had told me about this ancient well and I happened to be in Lanlivery yesterday, so I thought I would incorporate a visit to this sacred place. Like so many ancient places, there are no signposts and because to get to it, you have to cross through a school, it is best to visit out of school days....

St Germoe Church 6 August 2026

This has to be the most blissful place I have visited for a long time. Many times I have seen the signpost to Germoe on my way to Helston. It is the opposite side to the Praa Sands turning on the Penzance to Helston. On this particular day, on my way to Helston, I was feeling really exhausted and decided I needed to investigate this tiny village and take a rest....

St Mawes to Helford 2 August 2026

What perfect weather for a sail from St Mawes harbour to the Helford. I had never been to St Mawes before and what a dear little harbour it is. It was a surprise birthday trip for my friend, who had no idea that I had arranged the trip with his son and grandson on their yacht, Evie May. So, sparkling lime drinks were the order of the day....

St Winnow to Lerryn and back 31st July 2026

Our last walk for July and what a long one this was! It took just under 2 hours (both ways) and thank goodness it took us through shady woodland, otherwise the heat would have been too much. After parking the car at St Winnow, we walked through the campsite and through a sturdy, wooden gate which took us through a field....

Trebah Gardens 26 July 2026

Making the most of this warm weather, I was taken to Trebah Gardens. I had heard about this beautiful place, as my late husband's brother was a good friend of the Watts family, who owned Trebah from 1972 to 1981. I can remember joining the Watts family at their holiday home in Coverack, for the 2000 Total Solar Eclipse. Trebah was also owned by the Healey family in the 1960s....

Booley Beach 23 July 2026

Another secluded beach I have been taken to is Booley Beach. We parked the car in the Par beach carpark and then took the small pathway to the left of the carpark, which then takes you over the cliffs to the cove. It took about 30 minutes to get there and there are no steps down to the beach, so navigating down was interesting....

Lansallos 22 July 2026

Where did July go? 1st August already and another turn in the Wheel of the Year. Lansallos beach took longer than I anticipated, so if you intend to visit, you need to be prepared to experience roughly a 2 mile round trip. However the walk is well worth it, as Lansallos beach is nestled in a beautiful, secluded cove. We parked the car in the National Trust car park and walked down the road to the church....

Sailing Again 9 July 2026

It must be 32 years since I last sailed, according to my Voyager Log Book. So I was thrilled to be asked to join Sam on his Colvic 26 sailing from Mevagissey to Falmouth. Sam is 18 and is sailing from the River Yealm to the Scillies. Mevagissey is a beautiful Cornish fishing village and when we set sail it was their festival week. ...

St Winnow, Cornwall, 19 July 2026

This tiny little piece of heaven is nestled in between Lostwithiel and Lerryn on the River Fowey. I had been taken there a couple of times before, but had never taken photos. The first thing that hits you, is the peace and tranquility, which I am sure emanates from the fact that the Mary line runs through St Winnow from Lostwithiel, diagonally through the church....

Luxulyan Valley 26/6/26

Today, I ventured to Luxulyan Valley, after a light lunch in Luxulyan village, where, if my memory serves me well, Hamish Miller followed the path of the Mary line. The lanes to the valley are VERY narrow and the car park is not large. The valley and woods are absolutely beautiful, however you can feel how the beauty had been abused when you see the remains of the industrial revolution....
