Reflection With Nina Changing, one belief at a time

Alas, my dreams of pushing a trolley and peddling duty free are shattered.

I am 1.3cm too short! I am, of course, devastated, distraught and my nose is sore, what is it with tears and runny noses?

There is a plus side of course, it means I can concentrate on marketing my Beta program, it needs a name. It’s for women who know that there is more out there for them than they are currently seeing and by the end of it they will be able to see it more clearly. It’s understanding the conditioning, unpicking knitting and following a new pattern to gorgeous new jumper - without the wool, or the needles and the jumper is metaphorical. The ideas are there, the arguments are sound and the teaching is good. I just need to scoop it into sachets and put the bows on! If you’d like more information drop me a DM and I’ll get it to you ❤️ If you’ve got a suggestion for the name, drop it in the comments xx

OMG! OMG! OMG! EasyJet are recruiting over 50s for cabin crew - ON PURPOSE!!!!

When I was a little girl I desperately wanted to be an Air Hostess, but I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 8 and I was told that I’d never be allowed. When I was 29 I came off my medication and I’ve never had another seizure.

Maybe, at the ripe old age of 56, I could apply. 🤔

I’ve been working on something new for Reflection With Nina over the last few days and, for the first time, it’s starting to feel like a real programme rather than an idea in my head.

It’s for women who know there’s something better but can’t quite see what that looks like yet.

We’re going to explore the programming that shapes the way we see ourselves and our possibilities — the things we’ve absorbed from patriarchy, our families, generations before us and the society we’ve grown up in. And then we’re going deeper into the beliefs and worldviews we’ve built from all of it.

Because sometimes what looks like “this is just who I am” is actually an old piece of programming we’ve never thought to question.

And once we can see the programming, we get to decide what we keep, what we rewrite and what we leave behind.

I’m going to run the first version as a small beta group, and I think I’m nearly ready to tell you about it.

There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

What if there’s more to your life than you can currently see?

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I think this might be for me,” drop me a message or comment REFLECTION and I’ll make sure you’re the first to know when I open the beta places.

Today I made two ingredient bread rolls.

They were a bit dense but they’re bread rolls, not the new Einstein and, to be honest, my attempts at making anything you’d find in a bakery (yeah, I know Paul Hollywood would be kicking them under a cupboard) leave a lot to be desired.

I didn’t post the banana bread fiasco — front cooked, top burned and the back half runny. Anything with flour and I struggle a bit.

My point is, they might not be perfect but they taste okay.

So, have a go. Don’t worry about getting it wrong. We all get things wrong, and if it looks like we don’t, there’s a fair chance nobody knew what it was supposed to look like in the first place.

Sometimes success is just having a go, ending up with something vaguely resembling what you intended and thinking, that’ll do.

And sometimes you get bread rolls.

I spent last weekend in North Yorkshire and watched my eldest nephew marry the love of his life. It was beautiful. Family time is always precious but weddings make it all the more special.

I danced with my mom, my sister and both my grandchildren to music that was ok but not exactly floor filling.

Then I found myself sitting in a little alcove, slightly out of the way, with the rest of the olds, watching my grandchildren, chatting and praying for something to come that we could actually dance to.

There was a time when we were the ones on the dancefloor to the bitter end. You couldn't get us off it. Now I'm sitting with the older generation having a lovely chat while wondering if there's ever going to be any decent music while the bride and groom and all their friends are busy jumping around like loons in a mosh pit.

And that's when I started thinking about time.

Because I don't feel like I've travelled that far from the woman who danced until her feet hurt, but somehow enough time has passed for my children to be grown, for my grandchildren to be running around at weddings, and for me to have quietly migrated to the table with the olds.

Then at the end of the night, the bride's mom asked if I wanted to take home one of the planters she'd made as decoration. And I was absolutely delighted because they were all bloody gorgeous.

So there we have it.

Apparently this is where I am in life now. Still waiting for something decent to dance to, but absolutely overjoyed with a nice planter.

I’m being unfriended on my personal page. I’ve lost two friends in a couple of weeks. Except I haven’t lost two friends at all because I have no idea who left.

Now, a while ago I would have seen the number decrease and wonder why these people decided not to be my friend anymore and I would’ve made it mean something when it really doesn’t matter in the slightest.

When I think about it, was it me that unfriended someone because their content doesn’t meet the vibe check? I don’t know.

What I’m trying to say is that other people’s actions don’t reflect you, they reflect the person taking the action, so if you lose people along the way don’t worry about it, they weren’t meant for the whole journey ❤️

I’m going to be like one of those annoying posters who asks you to name their puppy.

I’ve just had this beautiful axolotl. I need to name it and I’ve come up with Axl and Lottie and to be honest they’re so predictable I don’t think I can use them.

Help! I want something quirky. Let’s hear what you’ve got 🏳️‍🌈

I find posting on social media quite challenging. Everybody says ‘You need a hook’ then recommends I ask ChatGPT. I’ve done that and when I read what it comes up with I just think it’s generic crap and I’ve already seen half of this before and it doesn’t sound like me.

So, I do what any sensible human would do and say ‘Can you try again and make it sound like me?’ Well, it tries, 9/10 for effort. And I get it, I do. If I can’t sound like me on social media what chance does the bloody AI have🤦🏼‍♀️. So I hold no grudges but I’ve come here to ask a few questions and please if you have any advice👇I’m not proud, just super grateful! 🙏🙏🙏

Do any of my posts reach you on semi-regular basis?
What content are you most likely to interact with?
Do you like long posts, reposts, or videos of me (whether serious or spinning on a chair - not doing that again, the thought of it makes me feel a bit dizzy/sick)

Any feedback is welcome, appreciate and taken into consideration. Thank you 🙏
