Founded in December 2013, New Image Ink is a tattoo studio located in Portadown, Northern Ireland. We are a husband and wife team consisting of Alan, who is an established artist with over 18 years experience in the tattoo industry, and Jacki, a studio manager who has had previous experience working with various large studios.

The tattoo industry has been turned upside down by social media. The algorithms prefer what you do on camera over the art you put on skin.

Mediocrity is the new standard. Quantity over quality. People would rather have an average (being generous) sleeve done in 2 days than a quality sleeve done in 4-5 days.

If It was up to me, it would always just be about the work produced. But the industry is ā€œevolvingā€, not necessarily for the better, so I need to jump on the bandwagon. Iā€™ve another 20 years to go lol

Therefore, I will be more ā€œstrategicā€ with what I post. Not every tattoo will go online. Have a to feed the algorithm šŸ™„. I will try and make more content though Iā€™m not one for being infront of the camera.

What I wonā€™t sacrifice is the final product. The tattoo is the main thing, over any social media presence. So instead of wasting time making daft videos for likes I will try and make content focused on the tattoo and continue to learn and develop through seminars and study.

There will be changes after our July break. New working hours. Less tattoos per week to thoroughly focus more on each individual piece. More custom projects and preferencing my preferred style of work.

Anyway, thatā€™s enough from me.. donā€™t get caught out by the social media trap and settle for mediocrity just because someone has lots of followers.. always check the work because thatā€™s what matters.
