Scissors Direct was founded in 1994 by part of the same team who ran Christies Hair Supplies way back in the 70's - Ernest Wright and Jim Harland. So needless to say a pool of experience, knowledge and connections were straight away a strong foot hold for Scissors Direct. Their aim was to set up a Hairdressing supplies which sold something a bit different from the same old tried and tested product
s and to let the hairdressing industry in Northern Ireland know that there are other options out there. So along with the usual brands Ernest Wright trawled the trade shows far and wide looking for key brands that would give hairdressers an alternative. By doing so he ensured that Scissors Direct would be the only Northern Irish distributor for these products meaning the middle man would be cut out of the equation meaning a better price could be offered. By 2000 the sales team had grown to a force of 5 enabling all of Northern Ireland to be covered by Scissors Direct. The product ranges unique to Northern Ireland were being imported from as far as Australia. By 2004 the company had increased so much that larger premises were sought were we could house cash and carry, equipment showroom and 2 warehouses with ample free parking all in the same unit. From this a training school was also opened and the company expanded into beauty. By this stage our competitors were happily selling to the public and we made the decision to remain professional only. It seemed the right thing to do - coming from owning hairdressing salons Ernest appreciated how annoying it would be to be shopping for your stock only to meet your customer buying the colour you use and knowing how much you pay. It was essential that in order to protect the professional hairdressing industry our products would only be sold to trade!! Now in 2012 products imported to Scissors Direct now come from Australia,Holland, Israel, Belguim and France- the list goes on. Also because we are the sole suppliers of these brands the staff receive fantastic training so as to ensure they are able to answer your queries.
