Gareth Amos - Hypnotherapist, Emotion & Body Worker

Gareth Amos - Hypnotherapist, Emotion & Body Worker Welcome to my page. Hypnotherapist, Sports Therapist, Reiki Master I’m Gareth Amos, a fully qualified Hypnotherapist.

I’ve helped many people overcome anxiety, regain confidence, and move forward with clarity and calm through the powerful, evidence-based practice of hypnotherapy. My approach is grounded in neuroscience: an evidence-based approach that taps into the subconscious mind to shift limiting beliefs, break unwanted patterns, and support positive change. Whether you’re dealing with stress, fear, unwanted

habits, or emotional challenges, I work with you to understand the root cause and guide you towards lasting change. I hold a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and am a registered member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), adhering to their code of ethics and standards of practice. This ensures that you receive professional and ethical care throughout your journey with me. In addition to hypnotherapy, I bring a broad and trusted background in health and wellbeing. I hold a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Clinical Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation, and I am also an award-winning VTCT Level 5 Sports Massage Therapist, trained in:

Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Electrotherapy
Taping Techniques
Pitch Side First Aid
I am a qualified UK Athletics- Athletics Coach and have a deep passion for running and sport, which informs my understanding of both physical and mental resilience. My experience in sports therapy helps me work holistically with clients who may be managing performance anxiety, physical recovery, or mental blocks related to sport and activity. I am also a Reiki Master, and through Allonus Diamond Light, I practise Selenite Healing allowing me to offer clients a broader, more personalised approach when appropriate.

The lymphatic system is a network of vessels, nodes and tissues that plays an important role in maintaining fluid balance within the body and supporting the immune system.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialised light-touch technique using gentle, slow and rhythmic movements.

The treatment is very different from conventional massage. Rather than applying firm pressure to muscles and soft tissues, MLD uses a much lighter touch and specific movements designed around the lymphatic system.

For many people, this makes MLD a particularly calm and relaxing form of bodywork.

At this stage of my training, my MLD service is focused on gentle lymphatic wellbeing and relaxation rather than specialist lymphoedema management.

Appointments are available from my Poynton clinic and Thrive Wellbeing Hub in Sale, providing convenient locations for clients across Cheshire East, Sale, Altrincham and South Manchester.

This is one of the questions I get asked the most 👇

“How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?”

The honest answer is, it varies.

Most clients begin to notice positive shifts within the first few sessions, which is always encouraging 🧠

On average, people tend to benefit from around 6–12 sessions, depending on what they’re working through and the goals they want to achieve.

There’s no fixed number, because everyone is different.

I always tailor sessions to you - your progress, your needs, and how you’re responding, so the process feels supportive, not rushed or forced.

If you’re unsure where to start, that’s completely normal. We can always have a conversation and figure out what feels right for you 🤝

After the blog I posted last night, I thought I'd talk a little more about anxiety and how I can help.

Small things you can try today to help towards a calmer nervous system:
- Reduce caffeine after midday.
- Keep a regular sleep routine.
- Spend time outdoors.
- Practice slow breathing with a longer exhale.
- Notice anxious thoughts without immediately reacting to them.

“Nothing is wrong… so why do I feel anxious?” 🧠

It’s a question I hear more often than you might think.

You can be going about a completely normal day when suddenly your heart starts racing, your chest feels tight, your breathing changes or that familiar feeling of anxiety appears.

There’s no obvious danger. Nothing has happened.

So where has it come from?

In my latest blog, I explore why anxiety can sometimes feel as though it has appeared for no reason, and what may actually be happening behind the scenes in your brain and nervous system.

From the fight or flight response (and what would happen if you really did come face-to-face with a bear! 🐻), to the idea of an overly sensitive internal alarm system, I explain why your brain can sometimes react to everyday stresses as though they’re genuine threats.

I also look at some of the less obvious things that can contribute to anxiety, including poor sleep, caffeine, hormonal changes and stress quietly accumulating over time.

Most importantly, I talk about how the brain can learn anxious patterns but it can also learn calmer ones. 🌿

If you’ve ever thought “I shouldn’t feel anxious, everything is fine”, this one is worth a read.

For generations, conversations around men's mental health were often avoided. Many men grew up believing they had to keep going, stay strong and deal with problems on their own.

Expressing vulnerability was often seen as a sign of weakness, and the phrase "man up" became deeply ingrained in the way many boys and men were taught to cope with life's challenges.

As a result, many men felt they had to suffer in silence, bottling up their emotions or turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms rather than asking for support. Strength was often measured by how much you could carry on without complaining, rather than by recognising when you needed help.

Thankfully, the conversation around men's mental health is beginning to change.
