Do we all want to be authentic in our work? We want to be real, we want to be aligned, and we're all working with that. Something I've discovered working with my clients is that a stumbling block a lot of us have — and I think this as well — is a kind of unconscious belief that there's a part of our expression, our natural expression, that is not wise to allow out.
So for example, for one person it could be that they think it's not OK to mention psychedelics, or it's not OK to mention sexual pleasure, or it's not OK to mention a particular political perspective, or it's not OK to mention their enjoyment of colours and textures. You know, that might be a slightly strange one, but some people actually do think that they're not supposed to say anything that is about pleasure or enjoyment from anything they think might be perceived as being shallow or superficial. That's one example. But I think a lot of people have this.
I think something I had years ago was this idea that humour and just literally having fun and being completely ridiculous was not an OK thing. If you're wanting to work with people in a very important way, you know, within serious work, we're wanting to go deeper, we're wanting to expand and become more sovereign, more free, more experienced of oneness and connection — you know, that you can't have fun with that.
And I remember that was like an unconscious belief I had that then became conscious, and I realised was actually nonsense. And immediately what that did was that freed up an aspect of what I have to give, which lends a quality to the work which is unique, and people enjoy that, enjoy working with me, and find it very helpful, and helps us to melt away all sorts of things, and it helps us to really progress very powerfully.
So what might be one of yours? Or you know, we've probably got more than I'm still not aware of that I will become aware of in due course. Hopefully in this lifetime, maybe next lifetime, or the one after that.
So how about you? What are the things that you have allowed yourself to bring into your expression as a leader or as a practitioner? And are there any of those that you could sort of dig around a bit and find, and perhaps you could give yourself more permission to actually bring into what you do?
