Your feet are naturally designed to spread and distribute your weight across the ground 👣

When standing or walking, think about creating a stable base rather than forcing your feet into a narrow position. The right foot placement can help with balance, posture and overall movement.

As states, sometimes, the smallest adjustment can make a big difference 👀

Podiatrist vs pedicure 👣

So, what’s the difference?

While a pedicure is all about pampering and keeping your feet looking their best, podiatry focuses on the health, function and treatment of your feet.

From persistent pain and skin conditions to nail problems, biomechanics and everything in between, a podiatrist is trained to assess and treat a wide range of foot and lower-limb issues.

Both have their place, but knowing which one you need can make all the difference 💚

Foot pain isn’t something you simply have to accept as you get older 👣

Persistent pain can be a sign that something needs attention, whether that’s your footwear, movement patterns, strength, mobility or an underlying issue.

Getting older shouldn’t mean getting used to being uncomfortable. Listen to your feet, address the problem early, and keep moving 💚

What most modern shoes do to our feet 🦶

From narrow toe boxes to raised heels and aggressive toe springs, many modern shoes can change the way our feet naturally move and function.

And when it comes to training, this matters, as explained by 👀

If your shoes are constantly pushing your toes upwards and restricting natural movement, you may not be getting the foot function you need when lifting, running or moving.

That’s why it’s worth being cautious with heavily structured, toe-spring shoes in the gym. Your feet are designed to move, adapt and support you.

Sometimes, less shoe means more freedom🦶

How do you currently walk? 🤔

Your feet could be affecting far more than just the way you walk 👣

From feet pointing out and collapsing ankles to putting too much weight through the outside of the foot, poor walking mechanics can create knock-on effects throughout the body.

Improving your gait and building a stronger connection with your feet may help support better movement, posture, hip mobility and overall mechanics.

Sometimes, the foundation of better movement starts from the ground up🦶

If you can’t lift your big toe properly, it could be a sign that something isn’t quite right 👀

Big toe mobility plays a bigger role in your movement, balance and foot function than you might think. So if yours is struggling to move independently, it’s worth paying attention to.

New term. New shoes. New sports season… are their feet ready? 👣

As the summer holidays draw to a close, now is a great time to get your child’s feet ready for everything the new school term brings.

Whether you’d like a general foot check, have concerns about verrucas or ingrowing toenails, want to prepare for the football, rugby or other sports season ahead, or simply want us to check those brand-new school shoes are suitable, we’re here to help.

For children experiencing heel, foot, ankle, knee or lower limb pain, recurring injuries or movement concerns, we also offer our dedicated Children’s Biomechanical Pathway, looking beyond where it hurts to understand why the problem may be happening.

And we know that visiting a clinic isn’t easy for every child.

Our team are fabulous with children and work hard to keep appointments calm, relaxed and enjoyable. If your child is neurodivergent, anxious about appointments or simply needs a little more time to feel comfortable, please talk to us.

Need to visit the clinic first? Have a little tour? Meet the team? See the treatment room and have a chat without any treatment taking place? We can arrange that too.

Because sometimes a successful appointment starts before the appointment itself.

👣 Let’s get those feet ready for the new term.
