Broad Spectrum vs PPD vs UVA-PF
Did you know that SPF only measures UVB protection? If you’re looking to prevent aging and pigmentation, you’ll want a sunscreen that also offers UVA protection. Here are the different ways that a sunscreens UVA protection is measured:
🌿Broad-Spectrum - The sunscreen contains both UVA and UVB protection but the strength of the UVA protection hasn’t been measured.
🌿PPD - Measures UVA protection by how long it takes for pigmentation to appear after sun exposure with and without the sunscreen (like how SPF is measured but using pigmentation instead of redness).
🌿UVA-PF - Measures how much UVA passes through a sunscreen when it's applied to an acrylic sheet compared to how much passes through the acrylic sheet alone.

“What’s the best treatment for open pores? Is there anything that works?”
Micro needling is one of the best and fastest ways to shrink large pores.
Why do you have large pores?
Oilier skins have more of an oil build up, this leads to large pores.
Breakdown of collagen and elastin over time, naturally, and exacerbated by sun damage, smoking, diet E.g. high sugar, and pollution.
What can be done?
First of all, we need to de-congest your pores and minimize oil and debris build up. This can be done via extraction facials or microdermabrasion – where we remove the build up from the pores.

Moisturizers vs Emollients vs Humectants
Moisturizers are a huge part of any basic skincare routine, but what exactly are they?
The term 'moisturizer' was created by marketers to suggest a cream that increases skin moisture. It is not a scientific definition but is often used interchangeably with the latin term 'emollient' - meaning 'a material designed to soften the skin'. However, not all moisturizers are emollients.
It was originally believed that moisturizers worked by preventing TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss) through occlusion (i.e. creating a layer on the skin that traps water inside). However, after the discovery that lipids (particularly ceramides) play a vital role in skin hydration, it is now known that there are multiple mechanisms at play.

Acne Scars vs Acne Marks
Do you know the difference between acne scars and acne marks?
True acne scars are formed when something goes a little wrong in the wound healing process and either too much or too little collagen is created.
Too much collagen = hypertrophic (raised) acne scars
Too little collagen = atrophic (pitted) acne scars
True acne scars leave textural irregularities while acne marks leave discoloration.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) = brown marks that are caused when inflammation triggers your skin to produce too much melanin
Post-inflammatory erythema (PIE) = red marks caused by remaining inflammation after a spot/pimple has healed.
