Because you only need to get to the bottom of your brew and discover you’ve been drinking a toenail-infused cuppa once. 👀💀

My reaction?

“Ooooo… I’m going to enjoy this one.” 🤓🧐🦶

Because what you see as an embarrassing nail, or feel ashamed about, I see as a very satisfying problem to solve!

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

Thickened, gryphotic nails like this can become uncomfortable, catch on EVERYTHING and are agonising in footwear!!

As anyone with a sore toenail knows… these somehow become an IMMEDIATE TARGET for children/ pets to stand on. 😭

There is absolutely no judgement in my treatment room. I’ve seen ALL of the feet, and I promise you, yours won’t shock me.

Things you genuinely NEVER need to apologise to your podiatrist for… 👀

“Sorry, I haven’t shaved my legs.”

Don’t care. 😂

“Sorry, my feet are horrible.”

They’re almost certainly not.

“Sorry, my feet smell.”

Feet sweat. Shoes get warm. Humans occasionally smell. We’re good.

“I should have come ages ago.”

Probably. 😂 But you’re here now.

The only one I do care about is:

“I’m embarrassed.”

Because I really don’t want you to be.

You wouldn’t believe how many appointments start with an apology. I’m a podiatrist — you could say I’ve specifically chosen feet. 😂

Come as you are. We’ll sort out whatever needs sorting. ❤️

Can we talk about ingrown toenails for a minute? 👀

Because there’s one thing I really wish people would stop doing…

Digging further and further down the side of the nail trying to “cut the corner out.”😂

I completely understand why you do it — sometimes it gives temporary relief.

I also understand that sometimes cutting straight across is not resolving the problem either! 🤷‍♀️

But if you’re having to perform your own little bathroom nail surgery every few weeks because the same bit keeps hurting, it’s probably time to work out why it keeps happening.

And you absolutely don’t need to wait until it’s infected, swollen or unbearable before having it looked at.

Sometimes a relatively simple treatment is enough. If it’s a recurring problem, there are also more permanent options we can discuss.

So this is your friendly podiatrist reminder:

Please put the bathroom scissors down. 😂✂️

Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Rachel, an HCPC Registered Podiatrist and owner of Footwell Podiatry, based on Northway in Broughton.

I offer appointments for everything from routine foot and nail care through to painful corns and callus, ingrowing toenails, verrucae, fungal nail problems, diabetic foot care, foot pain and nail surgery.

Unfortunately I’ve no availability at the moment until w/c 24 August, but I have added some additional appointments that week for those who are looking.

People often ask me why I became a podiatrist.

The answer has never really been about feet.

It’s about helping people get back to doing the things they enjoy.

Whether that’s walking the dog without heel pain, feeling confident wearing sandals again, or finally solving a painful ingrowing toenail that’s been bothering them for months.

I know visiting any healthcare professional can feel daunting, so one thing that’s really important to me is making people feel comfortable, listened to and never rushed.

Footwell is a small independent clinic in Broughton, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has trusted me with their care so far.

If you’ve been putting off getting your feet looked at, this is your reminder that you don’t have to live with discomfort.
