🌿 How to Apply Olive Oil Drops Like a Pro (Your Ears Will Thank You!) 🌿

If your ears are feeling a little “full of secrets”, a few drops of warm olive oil can help soften wax before your appointment with me — your local NMC Registered Nurse at EarForYou West Sussex.

Here’s the simple step‑by‑step:

1️⃣ Warm the bottle
Hold the bottle in your hands for a minute. Cold drops in the ear are… an experience.

2️⃣ Tilt your head
Gently pull the ear up and back to straighten the canal. This helps the oil glide in smoothly.

3️⃣ Add 2–3 drops
Let the drops fall in — no need to poke the dropper inside the ear.

4️⃣ Let it settle
Stay on your side for 5–10 minutes, then let any excess drain onto a tissue.

🗓️ Before your appointment:
• For irrigation: use drops for 3–5 days
• For microsuction: use drops for 2 nights

Soft wax = quicker, safer, more comfortable treatment.

🌟 Smiling Faces & Fascinating Finds at Westlake Nursing Home! 🌟
I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the wonderful residents and staff at Westlake House Care Home - Barchester Healthcare in Horsham recently for a special Ear Care Workshop—and what a lovely day it was! 👂✨
From start to finish, the energy in the room was warm & friendly. The residents were so engaged, incredibly interested, and kept me on my toes with so many brilliant questions!
The absolute highlight of the day? Bringing out our specialized camera equipment to let residents **see inside their own ears!** 🎥 Standard reactions ranged from *"Oh wow!"* to *"Is that really what it looks like in there?!"* It was wonderful to see so many curious minds at work and share plenty of laughs along the way.
