International Sushi Day is celebrated on 18th June every year. It is a global celebration, encouraging people to eat and enjoy sushi. Fish like tuna and salmon are rich in high-quality protein and omega-3 which support the heart and brain. Seaweed is packed with vitamins, minerals and iodine. Wasabi & Ginger which are traditional condiments, offer anti-inflammatory properties and aid digestion. All good reasons to give sushi a try, if you haven’t already.

We had a fabulous time at the Memorial Match & Charity Day on Sunday, 14th June. The weather was good to us and there was a fabulous atmosphere, full of fun. The annual event which is hosted in memory of Jamie Forsyth who died of bowel cancer, raises funds for two charities; St Peter and St James’ Hospice and the Mary How Trust. If you couldn’t make it on the day and would still like to donate to these wonderful causes, you can do this via the Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/jftrophy26

Sussex Day is the county day for the historic county of Sussex and is celebrated on 16th June each year, to celebrate the rich heritage and culture of Sussex. The event takes place on St Richard’s Day, the feast of St Richard of Chichester, Sussex’s patron saint. The date marks the anniversary of the translation of St. Richard’s body from its original burial place in the nave of Chichester Cathedral to an elaborate shrine at the cathedral on 16th June 1276.

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually on 14th June in the UK and worldwide. This global event is aimed at raising awareness of the need for safe blood and thanking voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts. A blood service that gives patients access to safe blood and blood products in sufficient quantity is a key component of an effective health system. This date also marks the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, who discovered the ABO blood group system.
