Most people focus on what they can see easily.

Face. Arms. Chest.

But the back, scalp, backs of the legs and behind the ears are some of the most consistently sun-exposed areas on the body.

And they are almost impossible to monitor properly on your own.

Skin changes in these areas can go unnoticed for a long time.

Not because people are not paying attention.

Because they genuinely cannot see them.

A professional mole check covers the full picture.

Not just the marks you already know about.

If it has been a while since your skin was properly assessed, this is a straightforward way to change that.

Map My Mole appointments are available at Positive Skin in Midsomer Norton.

Not sure if it is a mole?

That is EXACTLY why you should get it checked.

I hear this all the time.
“I am not sure if it is a mole.”
“I do not want to waste your time.”
“It has always looked like that, I think.”

Here is the truth.
You do not need to know. That is my job.

At my clinic in Midsomer Norton, I offer Map My Mole screening because most of us are not trained to tell the difference between a harmless blemish and something that needs further attention.

And when it comes to your skin, guessing is never worth the risk.

If you are unsure, even for a second, that is your sign to check it.

DM me or comment ‘CHECK’ and I will guide you through the process.

Reassurance or early action, either way, you will know.”

The difficulty is knowing the difference.

In midlife, hormonal shifts can affect skin pigmentation.

Moles you have had for years can look slightly different.

New marks can appear that were not there before.

Most of the time there is a straightforward explanation.

But most of the time is not the same as every time.

The problem with self-monitoring is that we look at our own skin every day.

Which means gradual change is almost impossible to notice without a baseline to compare against.

A professional mole check gives you that baseline.

It tells you what is stable, what has changed, and what needs a closer look.

If a mole has been on your mind, that is reason enough to get it checked.

Most people think about sun protection in terms of how they look.

Tanning, burning, ageing.

But summer UV exposure carries a deeper risk that does not always show up straight away, and for anyone with moles or changing skin, this is the time of year to pay closest attention.

This carousel breaks down what UV actually does to your skin across a season, why existing moles need monitoring after sun exposure, and what a complete approach to skin protection in summer looks like.

If you have a mole you have been meaning to get checked, now is the right time.

You know exactly what I mean.

That mark you have been keeping half an eye on.

The one you tell yourself is probably nothing.

The one that surfaces in your thoughts every few weeks, then gets filed away again under "deal with it later."

Later has a habit of becoming a very long time.

The check itself takes less time than the worry.

At my clinic in Midsomer Norton, I offer Map My Mole screening, images are reviewed by consultant dermatologists and you receive a clear report within days.

No waiting list.
No second-guessing.
No more putting it off.

If something has been quietly sitting in the back of your mind, this is a straightforward way to get a clear answer.

Not knowing if it will actually work for you.
Your hair type, your skin tone, your specific areas.
You have read enough to know that results vary and you do not want to spend money on something that is not going to deliver for your particular situation.

Uncertainty about what it feels like. You have seen enough online to have questions and not quite enough to feel comfortable. Pain, redness, downtime.
You are not sure what you are signing up for.

Not knowing how many sessions you need or what the commitment actually looks like. A course sounds straightforward until you start wondering what that means for your schedule, your budget and your skin specifically.

So you keep it on the list. You come back to it every few months. You think about booking and then do not quite get there.

Here is the thing.

A consultation answers every single one of those questions before you commit to anything. We look at your skin and hair type, we talk through what results are realistic for you, we explain exactly what each session involves and we give you a clear picture of what a course looks like from start to finish.

You leave knowing whether laser is right for you.
Not based on what you read online.
Based on your skin, assessed properly, by someone who does this every day.

No commitment.
No pressure.
Just the clarity you have been missing.
That is all a consultation is.

Most people come in knowing they want laser but not knowing what to expect across the full process.

This is that explanation.

Before your first session a patch test is carried out to assess how your skin responds to the laser. This is not optional and it is not a formality. It is the information that determines your settings and keeps your skin safe.

Your first treatment follows shortly after. In the days that follow you may notice some redness and sensitivity in the treated area. This is normal. Your skin is responding exactly as it should.

Sessions two and three are where things start to feel different. Shedding begins, which means treated hairs start to work their way out of the follicle. This is not regrowth. It is the process working. Alongside this, regrowth in the treated areas starts to slow and feel finer than before.

By the middle of your course the reduction becomes visible. Hair in the treated areas is noticeably sparser. Texture changes. What does grow back is often lighter and finer than it was at the start.

The later sessions focus on the follicles that were in a resting phase during earlier treatments and are now active. This is why consistency with spacing matters so much. These sessions catch what the earlier ones could not.

At the end of your course a review looks at the overall reduction and whether any areas need additional attention. Long term results vary by individual but most clients see a significant and lasting reduction that removes the need for their previous hair removal routine.

This is not a treatment you do once and forget.

It is a process. And it works when followed correctly.

Most people do not add it up.

It just gets paid in small amounts, regularly, without much thought.

A pack of razors. Shaving foam. A waxing appointment every four to six weeks. Threading every few weeks if that is your method. Individually none of it feels significant. Collectively it is a recurring cost that never stops because the result never lasts.

The average waxing appointment in the UK costs somewhere between fifteen and forty pounds depending on the area and where you go.

At once a month that is between one hundred and eighty and four hundred and eighty pounds a year. On a single area. Before you factor in any other method you are using alongside it.

Over five years that is a significant amount of money spent on something that gives you a temporary result and then asks you to pay again.

Laser is a course with a finish line. You complete the sessions, the follicles are treated, and the reduction holds.

Most clients do not need to return to the same maintenance cycle they were in before. Some do top up sessions occasionally. But the weekly or monthly commitment to hair removal largely stops.

This is not just a financial decision.
It is a time decision.
The hours spent on hair removal over years add up in the same quiet way the money does.

A consultation is free. It is the clearest way to understand whether laser makes sense for you, what a course would involve and what the realistic outcome looks like for your skin and hair type.

No commitment. Just clarity.
