Midlife women NEED muscle strength 💪
Muscle helps support hormones, blood sugars, metabolism and even thyroid health… annoying as that is 😂

Muscles don’t directly “improve the thyroid,” but strength training and muscle mass can support metabolic health, insulin sensitivity, energy use, and hormone balance — which all interact with thyroid function and how we feel in midlife.

Practicing what I preach this weekend… a few days away to completely switch off and unwind ✨

Walks, river time, and being immersed in the sights and sounds of nature 🌿

Good food, music, sunshine ☀️ and making myself actually listen to what I need instead of falling into the usual trap of trying to cram everything in and overdo it… even when I’m away to relax.

And now I have the perfect excuse to come back and do the bits I missed 😊

Slowing down doesn’t always come naturally… sometimes we have to consciously choose it 💛

This little bee landed on my hand and for a few minutes everything else stopped. The mental to-do list paused. The tabs in my brain went quiet. The “must reply to that / remember this / sort that later” faded into the background.
🐝
Women in midlife are often carrying SO much.Family stuff. Work stuff. Caring for everyone. Hormones. Life admin. Emotional load.
No wonder the system occasionally freezes like the rainbow wheel of doom on an old computer!

Try this when you feel the overwhelm creeping in… 💛

Step outside for just a moment and take a few slow deep breaths.

Then notice…

🍃 The air on your skin
🌸 The scents around you
🍂 A leaf or flower petal — really study the pattern and detail
🤎 Touch something nearby — rough bark, soft petals, cool stone… how does it feel?
🐦 listen for the birdsong

Just a few minutes is all it takes to become fully present in the moment.

And when that happens, the mind quietens a little. The nervous system softens. The mental tabs stop flashing quite so loudly.

Sometimes we don’t need to do more.We just need a moment to pause and notice 🐝💛

Today is all about relaxing, easing aches and pains, and giving the body chance to reset.

Massage fits perfectly into my whole ethos of what keeps us moving, healthy and feeling good. It’s not just a “treat” — it’s part of looking after the whole body.

Our bodies are always trying to find balance (homeostasis).
When muscles and soft tissues are tight or unhappy, it puts extra strain on joints, affects movement, and can leave us feeling stiff, tired and uncomfortable.

Pain also keeps the nervous system stuck in “fight or flight” mode 🚨
That can impact so many things:
• digestion
• sleep
• hormone balance
• stress levels
• pelvic floor tension
• overall energy and wellbeing

Plus when you’re aching, exercising is usually the last thing you feel like doing.

Sometimes the first step to moving better is helping the body feel safe enough to relax ❤️

Massage, movement, rest, breathing, hydration… it all works together. Balance is the key.

All of my treatments are intuitive and combine my experience and qualifications in Advanced Clinical Massage & Sports Massage plus Advanced LaStone Therapy using both warm and cool stones to give you an experience tailored to how you’re feeling that day.

Last week I popped to my local parade of shops to grab a prescription.
Nothing exciting really… or so I thought 😊

I had a lovely catch-up with Ash at the pharmacy, joked around with Steve in the DIY shop, and then Kru from the post office actually came running out to ask how my daughter got on in her driving test 🚗😂

And honestly… it made my heart feel full.

In a world where everyone is rushing, scrolling, and glued to screens, those little everyday connections matter so much.
A smile. A chat. Someone remembering your news.
That sense of community is powerful for our wellbeing.

And it made me realise… that’s exactly what I love about my Move to Improve groups too ❤️

Yes, we come for movement, mobility and feeling better in our bodies…
But the chat, the laughs, the “how’s your week been?” moments are just as important.

In fact, sometimes getting everyone chatting less and exercising more is my biggest workout of the session 😂

We meet in a local church hall, but it feels more like a little community of people cheering each other on through life, aches, pains and all.

And that’s something pretty special ✨
