🥊 🥊If you think I need to pummel you to make your massage “work”… we need to talk! 😂
🌸 Things you should know about my Therapeutic Massage 🌸
No two bodies are the same — and no two treatments with me will be exactly the same either. Because after 15+ years of working with people and their aches, pains and tension, I’ve developed my own way of working, so I thought I’d explain a little about what I’m actually doing while you’re on my couch!
🤲🏻 I don’t have a set routine — my hands are doing more than massaging.
While I’m working, I’m feeling how your tissues move, where there’s tension, what feels different from one side to the other and — importantly — how your body responds to what I’m doing.
That’s why I might suddenly change pressure, technique or move somewhere else entirely.
🤕 The bit that hurts isn’t always the bit causing the problem.
You might come in with a sore shoulder and wonder why I’m working on your back, neck or even your hips!
Your body works as a whole and everything is connected. I may ask questions about your routines or what you’ve been doing recently — at work, on holiday, in the garden, at the gym etc.
Sometimes I need to think beyond the place on your body that’s shouting the loudest.
🥊 Harder doesn’t always mean better!
You might have a brilliant pain threshold, but that doesn’t mean your body needs more pressure.
If your muscles start fighting against me, going harder can actually be counterproductive.
This is also why I often integrate hot and cold stones from Advanced LaStone Therapy into treatment. The heat can help calm the nervous system and soften guarded tissues, allowing me to work more deeply without simply pressing harder. Cold stones can also be used where appropriate as part of the treatment.
📣 Speak up! Please tell me what you’re feeling.
I can feel an awful lot with my hands — but I can’t feel what you feel.
I want to know when something feels great, when it’s soothing and relaxing and also when it’s sharp, burning, tingling, numb or just… “that doesn’t feel right.”
Your feedback helps me decide what I do next.
🥊 I’m not trying to beat your body into submission in 60 minutes. 😂
‼️Sometimes less is more‼️sometimes you may simply need your body to let go…..
You feel the tense feeling, clenched jaw, shoulders around your ears, shallow breath all these things that you’ve unwittingly been holding within you suddenly release, the heaviness you’ve been carrying transfers from ‘within’ to the couch 😮💨
My aim isn’t for you to stagger out feeling like you’ve survived an ordeal. 🫣 It’s to work with your body and also help you to understand a little more about what might be going on so that you can make changes at home, work etc.
That’s the difference between simply having a massage and having clinical massage therapy.
It isn’t something I just do to you.
We work on it together so that you not only feel relaxed but you can also move and function better. 🙌
