Potato head, some colourful scarves, a pop-it, animals and balloons plus a lots of sensory exploration!

It might not look like the play we traditionally expect, but there is still so much opportunity for connection and communication. We join in with what’s motivating, follow every child’s lead, comment on what they’re doing and share the moment together.

For some children, play may look different and that’s okay! There is no “right” way to play. ✨

Our job isn’t to change a child's play, but to find the communication and connection within it. 🗣️🫶🏻 💜💙

We’ve been in our new clinic in Rayleigh for a month already… and we still can’t quite believe it’s ours!

Opening the doors to our fabulous new Rayleigh home for Clarity Independent Speech and Language Therapy has genuinely been a dream come true. After years of growing, planning and imagining what the perfect space could look like, seeing children, adults and families walk through the doors every day has been incredibly special.

If you haven’t heard of us before, we’re an award-winning independent Speech and Language Therapy practice supporting children and adults across Essex. We provide specialist assessment and therapy for:

We know how busy this time of year can be. Between school events, sports days, end-of-term activities and summer holidays, finding time to make appointments isn’t always easy.

To make things simpler, we’re pleased to announce that online booking is now back open for selected Speech and Language Therapy appointments.

You can now book appointments online for:

💙💜 Well… we did it! 🎉💙💜

What a ride the last three months have been.

From searching for the perfect new clinic, navigating lease negotiations, designing the space, and then finally moving… all whilst working, seeing clients and running a business.

Then, just to keep things interesting, we moved during a heatwave 🌡️… on the hottest day of the year… and a burst water main meant we couldn’t even get the van to the clinic! 🚚💦

There were definitely moments where I wondered if we’d ever get there.

But today, standing in our beautiful new clinic, I couldn’t be prouder of what our incredible team has achieved.

This move isn’t just about a new building. It’s about creating a calm, welcoming space where children, adults and families can feel comfortable, supported and heard.

Running a business is never the polished Instagram version. It’s resilience, problem-solving, brilliant people pulling together, and sometimes carrying furniture in 35°C heat over a river down the high street! 😂

Dreams really do come true… they just don’t always happen in the way you imagine.

Thank you to the guys for all your support as always, for designing our new branding and my father in law John and Gary helping to make it just look fantastic!

A big shout out to Diane for helping us through and finding us the ideal place for our work.

Come to Exeter with me 💜💙
A little throwback to last week when Exeter was looking a lot greyer and cloudier than it is now! While I was down there, I finally found some time to explore the city between studying for my Master’s in Healthcare Leadership. It’s been raining most of the time since I started in September!
Why a masters in Healthcare Leadership? Leadership and clinical innovation have been passions of mine for many years. I originally completed a post graduate module in Clinical Leadership 10 years ago and that kicked off a heavy interest in this area. I love developing the skills to create even greater impact in Speech and Language Therapy and continue growing the practice I’ve built.
An added bonus is that I’m completing the course through the Essex County Council apprenticeship scheme, meaning I’ll also qualify as a Chartered Manager with the Chartered Management Institute by the end of it.
It’s a very busy season of my life, learning, growing, and building alongside my family life but I’m so grateful of the opportunity. Thank goodness for my supportive hubby and team! 💙💜

Communication doesn’t take a holiday! 🌞 Whether it’s asking for a drink, requesting help, choosing an activity, or wanting to jump in the pool, having the right support can make holiday experiences more enjoyable and accessible. Jess created this personalised communication board for one of her clients to support them to communicate while away from their usual routines. Visual supports can provide familiarity, build confidence, and help children take part in new experiences with greater independence. 🌊🏖️ Small support, big impact. 🙌🏼💜💙 ☀️

Welcoming Emma Montague, Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist!

Emma qualified with a master's degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Essex in 2014. She has over 10 years of experience working in a specialist education setting, where she has developed a deep understanding of complex communication needs and the importance of creating supportive, inclusive environments. She has experience in supporting a wide range of learning disabilities, and specialises in supporting autistic children and young people, as well as individuals who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Emma is passionate about AAC and has extensive experience supporting individuals who use a range of systems, including power-based communication approaches. She is committed to ensuring that AAC is accessible, meaningful, and embedded into everyday life, enabling individuals to communicate in ways that work best for them.

Her approach is neurodiversity-affirming and person-centered, focusing on each individual’s strengths, interests, and preferred ways of communicating. Emma works collaboratively with families, education staff, and other professionals to support functional, real-life communication.

She also has a strong passion for training and empowering others; whether it's supporting school staff to develop strategies that enhance understanding and communication in the classroom, or working closely with parents and carers to build confidence in using AAC at home. She believes that equipping the people around a child or young person is key to creating lasting, meaningful change.

The Role
We are seeking a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to work with preschool and primary-aged children with a range of communication needs, with an interest in Autism and Complex Needs.

We are a neurodivergent-affirming practice, offering Gestalt Language Processing approaches and high-tech AAC. Meaningful Speech training will be provided if required. Regular supervision is provided in line with RCSLT and HCPC guidelines.

Requirements
• Fully qualified and HCPC-registered SLT
• Paediatric experience
• Car driver with access to own vehicle
