🔺 MENINGITIS B INFORMATION 🔺

The MenB vaccine is currently only offered as part of the NHS vaccination schedule for babies. At present, there is no NHS guidance to offer this vaccine outside of the routine infant programme.

If you would still like the MenB vaccine, this will need to be arranged through a private provider.

The MenACWY vaccine protects against four types of meningococcal bacteria (groups A, C, W and Y). In the UK, it is routinely offered to teenagers aged 13–14 and is free on the NHS for anyone up to the age of 25 who missed their vaccine.

You can contact the surgery, check your NHS App, or your/your child’s Red Book to see if the MenACWY vaccine has been given. If not, we can arrange this for you.

❗Please seek urgent medical help by attending A&E or calling 999 if you develop symptoms of meningitis.

Symptoms can include:
🔹 High temperature
🔹 Vomiting or headache
🔹 Drowsiness or being unresponsive
🔹 A rash that does not fade when a glass is rolled over it.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the local family at this time, and with all families and friends affected by this.

Some of the symptoms of meningitis may include:
🔹 High temperature
🔹 Being sick
🔹 Headache
🔹 Rash that does not fade when a glass is rolled over it
🔹 Drowsiness or unresponsiveness

Vaccinations offer some protection against certain causes of meningitis. Check to see if your vaccinations are up to date.

All patients should continue to attend appointments as normal.

This Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re holding space for every mother—those who are thriving, those who are struggling, and those somewhere in between. 🤍
Motherhood is powerful, but it’s not always easy—and that’s okay to admit. You are not alone, and you deserve support, understanding, and care just as much as you give it.
Let’s break the silence, share our stories, and remind one another that it’s okay to ask for help. 💬✨
