(STRICT / SET ) DIETS DON’T WORK LONG TERM.
Rigid set meal plans can certainly get you results but what happens when the ‘diet’ ends? All strict / set diets will come to an end either when the deadline is up or when the person simply can’t do it anymore. When this happens if you lacked flexibility or were severely restricted it’s very likely you will ‘go off the rails’ and binge.
We find it much better to teach people flexibility and how to eat to fuel rather than following a set plan meal plan.
Very strict set meal plans day in day out can lead to gut intolerances where you are exposed to less types of food over type and exacerbate eating disorders. They also promote and off / on, binge style mindset .
The goal shouldn’t be to get really good at following a diet set by your coach (often mindless nonsense) but to build a way of eating that you can sustain and
lifestyle you don’t constantly need to diet your way out of. Obviously in contest prep things need to be tightened up and calories need to be reversed up again after but in a way that doesn’t damage your metabolism or make you emotionally crazy.
That means:
✔️Learning how to eat properly, rather than surviving on as little food as possible
✔️Not rebounding after every ‘diet’ putting you in a less than optimal place mentally, physically and hormonally
✔️Eating enough protein and building meals around good nutrition rather than just doing what your coach says without question (coco pops post workout because they said so 🤡)
✔️Continued Resistance training to build and maintain muscle. There is no end date to training
✔️Staying physically active daily
✔️Creating habits you can apply to your life for YEARS — not just 8 or 12 weeks
