A bit of morning light makes more difference than you’d think☀️

We’ve all got an internal body clock, our circadian rhythm, that tells us when to sleep, when to wake, and keeps everything ticking over.

And light is the biggest clue it gets for what time of day it is.

So something as simple as getting some daylight first thing can be a really lovely way to start.

Open the curtains.
Have your coffee by the window.
Step outside for a few minutes.
Go for a quick walk if you can.

Even here in Britain, when it’s grey rather than golden.

It doesn’t need to be another thing on the to-do list.

Just a bit of natural light.
A bit of exercise.
A chance to wake up gently.

And later on, we can send our bodies the opposite signal too, dimmer lights, less screen time, a bit of peace to wind down.

Looking after yourself doesn’t have to mean another complicated routine.

Sometimes it’s just about working with your body, instead of expecting it to keep up with you.

At L’OCCASION, I’m all about the small everyday habits that help us live a bit healthier and a bit more in balance.

We don’t need a perfect day to have a good one.⚘️

We’re all carrying something, aren’t we?

Some days you’ve got the energy to cook, go to the gym, get outside, tick everything off the list.
Other days, just getting through is enough.

And that’s okay. That’s life.

Maybe a healthy life isn’t about getting everything right.
Maybe it’s about making a day that actually works for the life you’ve got.

So be gentle with yourself. Start where you are.

At L’OCCASION, I believe wellbeing should fit into real life, not the other way round.

Why muscle matters for Longevity?

Muscle isn't just about looking strong.
It's about being able to live your life.

We don't always think about muscle when we talk about longevity.

We tend to talk about nutrition, sleep, cholesterol, heart health…

But our muscles matter too.

As we get older, maintaining muscle strength can help us with the things we often take for granted:

Getting up from a chair.
Carrying the shopping.
Climbing the stairs.
Picking up your children.
Travelling.
Keeping your balance.
Staying independent.

And that's something I find really interesting about healthy ageing.

Strength is not only about fitness. It's about function.

Research continues to find an association between muscle-strengthening activity and lower risks of several health outcomes, including cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality. A large 2026 study also found that long-term resistance training was associated with lower mortality risk.

But before you think:

“Right… I need to join a gym.”

Not necessarily.

Strength training can be adapted to where you are now.

Bodyweight exercises.
Resistance bands.
Weights.
Pilates.
Carrying shopping bags.
Practising getting up and down from a chair.

The important thing is finding something you can actually keep doing.

And you don't have to start with an hour-long workout.

Start where you are. Build gradually.

Because when we talk about longevity, we're not only talking about how many birthdays we get to celebrate.

We're also talking about how capable we feel when we get there.

At L’OCCASION, I look at movement as part of the bigger picture of healthy ageing alongside nutrition, sleep, stress and the everyday habits that shape our wellbeing.

Your future strength is worth looking after today.

-No fumar

Have you ever wondered about the difference between "Mediterranean-style eating" and "the Mediterranean diet"?

I've always liked the idea of Mediterranean-style eating because it doesn't have to feel like a "diet".

I'm not asking someone in Berkshire to suddenly eat exactly like someone living in Crete to enjoy some of its principles. Even here in England, we can take the ideas and make them work in our everyday lives.

It's more about a pattern.

More vegetables and fruit.
Beans and lentils.
Wholegrains.
Nuts and seeds.
Olive oil as a main source of fat.
Fish and other nutritious sources of protein.

And food that is actually enjoyable.

That matters too.

A healthy way of eating needs to be something you can live with, not something you can only follow for three weeks — and then there's the weeknd "boom": McRanchip's, chips and fried foods… our "healthy obsession".

Highly processed, intensely flavoured foods can strongly stimulate the brain's reward system, which can influence cravings and our eating habits.

Research continues to associate Mediterranean-style eating with better cardiovascular and overall health.

But I think there's a simple lesson we can take from it.

Instead of always asking ourselves:

"What do I need to stop eating?"

Perhaps we could ask:

"What could I add to my plate?"

More colour.
More plants.
More variety.

One meal at a time.

Healthy ageing starts with what we do every day.

At L’OCCASION, I help you look at the bigger picture, from your health markers and nutrition to sleep, stress and daily habits; and find a realistic place to start.

We talk a lot about “gut health” these days.
But it doesn't have to mean expensive supplements, complicated protocols or a fridge full of fermented drinks.
Sometimes, it starts with something much simpler:
fibre.
Fibre-rich foods feed parts of our gut microbiota, and the bacteria can turn certain fibres into short-chain fatty acids with important roles in the body.
Naturally,
So have a look at your next meal.
Could you add some berries?
A few spoonfuls of lentils?
Some vegetables?
Wholegrain bread?
A handful of nuts or seeds?
We don't have to completely change the way we eat.
Just give your gut a little more variety to work with.

Small everyday choices can become part of a healthier lifestyle over time.

• Avena y cereales integrales
• Verduras y frutas
• Frijoles, lentejas y otras legumbres
• Nueces y semillas

We hear the word longevity everywhere at the moment.

But I think there's a more important question behind it:

What do we actually want those extra years to look like?

Living longer is one thing.

Being able to enjoy those years. With your health, independence, energy and the people you love; is another.

That's where healthspan comes in.

And perhaps looking after our future health doesn't have to feel overwhelming.

It can start with the small things we do today.

What would you like your healthspan to look like?

How much of your day do you actually spend sitting?

If you're anything like most of us, probably more than you think.

Work, commuting, watching TV, checking your phone… it all adds up.

And whilst regular exercise is important, movement doesn't have to happen only when you're “working out”.
A few minutes here and there can be a much more realistic way of bringing more movement into your day.
So next time you're about to send a voice note… maybe take a little walk while you do it. 😉

What's one small way you could move a little more today?

Small occasions to move, throughout the day.
