Maybe you're not bad at boundaries. Maybe you've built a life where everyone benefits from you having none.
Your boss benefits when you answer at 8pm. Your team benefits when you pick up the slack. Your clients benefit when you make yourself available at short notice. Your family benefits when you remember everything, organise everything and keep everything moving.
And you?
You get told you're amazing at juggling it all.
Until you're exhausted. Resentful. Snapping at people you love. Spending Sunday dreading Monday.
Then the advice arrives.
Set better boundaries.
Learn to say no.
Make time for yourself.
As though the problem is simply that you haven't downloaded the right mindset.
Sometimes the real work is recognising what your lack of boundaries is making possible for everyone else, and deciding whether you're willing to keep paying the price.
That might mean an uncomfortable conversation. A change in expectations. A different way of running your business. Or admitting that the environment you're in isn't going to change just because you get better at coping with it.
You can be a good leader without being permanently available. You can be a brilliant business owner without being everyone's emergency contact.
And you can love people without being responsible for everything.
Where in your life are you being rewarded for making things harder for yourself?
Save this. Share it. Or send it to the woman who needs permission to stop being so bloody accommodating. ๐
