Reptonian recently enjoyed great success in the British Boarding Schools Association’s 60-Word Short Story competition to mark their 60th Anniversary. Several students were shortlisted, with Hannah Mae C (10M) winning the Senior Category, with her story described as “a carefully structured conceit, with a poignant ending”. Tessa R (10G) was named runner-up in the same category.

Telling an entire story in sixty words takes great precision and skill, and this excellent achievement is a testament to the girls’ creativity.

A fantastic evening at the Hurlingham Club last week, as Old Reptonians from across the UK and UAE came together to reconnect and strengthen lifelong friendships.

Set against the stunning backdrop of one of London’s most beautiful venues, the event was a roaring success, bringing our global Old Reptonian community together for an evening of great conversation and camaraderie.

Last week, as part of our Entrepreneurship Programme, five pupils took to the stage to pitch their business ideas to renowned British entrepreneur and luxury car dealer Tom Hartley, alongside Mrs Mad Court, Head of Business.

Each team demonstrated impressive public speaking skills as they presented their ventures and responded confidently to challenging questions from our Dragons. Discussions explored key aspects of entrepreneurship, including budgeting, market research and the customer journey.

Following each pitch, the Dragons provided detailed and constructive feedback, giving pupils valuable insights to refine their business plans and strengthen their brand identities.

It was an inspiring event that highlighted how Repton extends learning beyond the classroom, equipping pupils with the confidence and commercial awareness needed to thrive in the world of entrepreneurship.

Our Lower Sixth pupils had the opportunity to engage with leading professionals from a diverse range of sectors, including entertainment, finance, engineering and healthcare. Pupils gained valuable first-hand perspectives on different career pathways and the skills required to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving professional landscape.

Events such as these play a vital role in helping young people explore their interests and make informed decisions about their future studies and careers.

Yesterday, our Year 8 pupils enjoyed their Transition Day at Repton Senior School, exploring new classrooms, meeting teachers and getting a taste of life beyond Prep.

We asked them what they are most looking forward to about this next chapter and it was wonderful to see their confidence and excitement for sport, new extracurriculars and friendships.

On Monday evening, the cast of Snow Dragons stepped into costume and continued refining their choreography, developing movement inspired by the shape and spirit of wild trees.

Attention to detail lies at the heart of every Repton production. Our Director of Drama and wider department place equal emphasis on props, costumes, movement, and line delivery, ensuring that each performance is brought to life with professionalism and outstanding production values.

Yesterday, Repton was proud to host the Derbyshire County Cricket Club at our Cricket Pavilion. Our athletes enjoyed the invaluable opportunity to bowl at county players, refining their line and pace while gaining first-hand experience alongside elite cricketers.

With the racing from this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix still fresh in our memories, we wanted to celebrate Formula Repton, Repton School’s Greenpower racing club. The initiative gives pupils the opportunity to apply STEM principles through hands-on engineering projects, from designing and building electric race cars to competing on track.

Through innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving, students develop valuable engineering skills while experiencing the excitement of motorsport firsthand. Inspired by the spirit of racing seen in Monaco, Formula Repton showcases the next generation of engineers and innovators.

On Saturday, Repton hosted its annual Careers and Higher Education Convention, bringing together pupils, staff, parents and industry professionals for a morning of insight and inspiration.

The event began with networking in the 400 Hall, followed by a keynote lecture from Nick Holman, Director of HEPI. Attendees then moved to the Science Priory to hear from 25 professionals across sectors including healthcare, finance, medicine, media and entrepreneurship, before exploring alternative pathways such as degree apprenticeships and gap year opportunities with organisations including Rolls-Royce and InvestIN.

As Luke Jones, Head of Careers and Entrepreneurship, noted, it is vital that pupils are well informed, well advised and open-minded about the many routes available to them.

The convention sparked ambitious thinking, broadened horizons and generated many valuable conversations.
