THE SCALES SAID +2LBS. MY JEANS SAID SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT.
And yes⦠I had a tantrum. š
After a week averaging:
š 1,424 calories a day
šŖ 98.1g protein a day
š 11,118 steps a day
š§ 3+ litres of water a day
ā¦I stepped on the scales and saw TWO POUNDS ON.
Was I rational about it?
Absolutely not. š¤£
Was I stomping around thinking āWHAT IS THE BLOODY POINT?!ā
Absolutely yes.
And this is coming from someone who spends her working life reminding women that scale weight is NOT the same thing as fat loss.
Oh, the irony. šš
Because when I stopped sulking and looked at the actual evidenceā¦
My waist is 1.5 inches smaller.
My hips are 1.5 inches smaller.
My jeans are hanging off me.
A size 10 dress I haven't worn for ages fits again.
And the size 12 jeans I ordered last week? Too big.
Then this morning I was suddenly 1.6lbs lighter than yesterday.
Did I lose 1.6lbs of fat overnight? Of course not.
Just like I hadn't magically gained 2lbs of body fat either.
Daily weight can fluctuate for all sorts of reasons, and I'm also taking creatine, which can increase water stored in the muscles.
So my official four-week loss might only say 1.6lbs.
But my body, and apparently my jeans š are telling a much bigger story.
This is exactly why I encourage my clients to look for non-scale victories and not let one weigh-in decide whether their weight-loss plan is āworkingā.
Sometimes you have to practise what you preach.
Trust the process.
Look at ALL the evidence.
And keep bloody going. š
