Hello! For any one new to my page or to Ripon let me introduce myself. I am Carrie Prideaux a 50 year old mother of 3, nature lover, runner (ish) and yogi. I have been teaching in and around Ripon for nearly 5 years. I work at the Jack Laugher Leisure centre as well as teaching at Jion Studios and in Kirkby Malzeard. I also provide 1:1 support, and have clients with conditions including MS, recovering from stroke and who generally just want to build strength and mobility. I also trained in Yoga for Menopause and have run specialist workshops.

My Classes in Kirkby Malzeard run on Wednesday Mornings 0930 - 1030 and on a Friday lunchtime 1300 - 1400. I have some mats I can lend out but if you have your own that’s great - just bring yourself in comfy clothing and that’s it! All other equipment is provided. We warm up, flow through some moves, cool down then have a relaxation at the end with eye pillows, sound chimes and essential oils.

It’s a great group, very chilled. No handstands or feet behind the ears here, just moving and breathing in a way that feels good. All genders, ages and abilities welcome. If you’ve been putting off giving yoga a try why not take that first step and get in touch, very happy to have a chat!

For any more info please drop me a message.

Realised I’ve been walking children to school for 12 years - this morning was the last walk to primary for my youngest. Really underestimated how emotional it would be, there’s a reason I’ve been grotty all week. All that contained sadness! She wasn’t bothered of course, had to sneak around the corner for a last squeeze. The walk to work was mainly marching and blinking….made it through the class. Slow meditative walk home and my body decided it needed cake, not wasting time or money on crap cake but something proper. Yay to the The GreenHouse, Ripon, their open door drew me in for a cruffin! I did share it with my eldest 😍 Totally hit the spot. Onto the next chapter in motherhood……☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ be kind to yourself today people 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

New Summer Term of Yoga starting next week! Hi I’m Carrie of Hope Yoga Yorkshire - I teach in Kirkby Malzeard Mechanics on a Wednesday morning and on a Friday afternoon, and in Jion Studios Ripon on a Saturday morning. I also offer 1:1 sessions if you’re recovering from an injury or needing that little bit of individual support. Classes are fun and friendly, we move, breathe (and wobble) together, sharing space and energy. Build strength and resilience from the inside out and become part of the Community. I am super proud to be sponsoring the no alcohol bar at this years Ripon Rugby Club Beer Festival and will be at the Karma Yoga and Wellness Day on the 20th June in the gardens of the Old Deanery.
For more information just drop me a message! Classes are £8 a session when you book the whole term or £10 a session to drop in.

YES!!!!!

Have you ever resisted using a yoga prop because it felt like you “shouldn’t need it”?

It’s such a common thing. Somewhere along the way, many of us picked up the idea that doing yoga “correctly” means doing it without support. No blocks, no straps, no blanket.

But what if that belief is actually getting in the way?

When we force our bodies into certain positions without support, we often compensate without realizing it. We hold our breath. We grip. We strain. And over time, that can pull us further away from the kind of practice that truly supports our body.

Props invite a different approach. They help you meet your body where it is today, not where you think it should be. They create space, reduce strain, and allow your nervous system to settle so your body can do the work more effectively.

There’s nothing “less than” about that.

If anything, it’s a more intentional, more sustainable way to practice.

If this idea challenges you even a little, you might enjoy my rant in this week’s episode of the Yoga for Longevity podcast, where I share more about why props deserve a second look.
