Sometimes hope is all you have… but sometimes, hope is exactly what carries you through. ❤️
Today, while I was shopping, something unexpectedly took me back many years.
At the time, I was working full-time in a cocktail bar while also studying full-time for my BSc (Hons).
I was exhausted, struggling financially and doing my best to keep everything going.
I had just been to the dentist because of severe pain and had been told I had an infection in my jaw. I understood how serious an infection in that area could be, and I was prescribed strong antibiotics.
But there was one problem…
I couldn’t afford the prescription.
I remember walking home, crying part of the way, because I felt completely overwhelmed. I knew I needed the medication, but I simply didn't have the money to pay for it.
And yet, somewhere underneath the craziness of the situation and exhaustion, I held onto one small thought:
“I can't be in this position forever.”
I didn't know how things would change.
I didn't know when they would change.
I just had hope that my circumstances had to change at some point in my life.
And today, looking back, I can say with a grateful heart:
I Thank God that my hope wasn't misplaced. 🙏
Life has a way of taking us through seasons we never imagined we'd have to walk through.
Sometimes we're exhausted.
Sometimes we're struggling.
Sometimes we can't see how things are going to get better.
But the chapter you're living today isn't necessarily the story you're going to live forever.
If you're in a difficult season right now, please don't give up on the possibility of change.
Take the next small step.
Rest when you need to.
Ask for help when you need it.
And hold onto hope.
You may be much closer to a new chapter than you realise. 🌿
And perhaps that's one of the reasons I love the work I do today. I know what it feels like to desperately want to feel better, to have more energy, to move forward and to believe that things can change.
You are not a finished story.
You are a work in progress. ❤️
