Steenbergs is all about great ingredients with great flavour and sourcing - the majority of which are organic. Set up in 2003 by husband and wife Axel and Sophie who are still at the heart of everything Steenbergs does. But as well as the quality and wide variety of spices and spice blends from around the world that you would expect from Steenbergs (who've been sourcing and blending in North Yorkshire since 2003) as a company we have the environment and ethics at the heart of everything we do. From plastic free bubble wrap and paper tape, to living roofs, solar panels and rainwater harvested toilets, and generally minimising our impact on the environment. Steenbergs has been carbon neutral since 2020, zero waste to landfill since 2010. Everything we sell is suitable for plant-based and vegan diets and we love seeing what our customers create with our ingredients. Pioneers of Fairtrade spices in the UK, the Steenbergs range offers over 400 spices and spice blends, many of them organic, several of them Fairtrade. All blends are created and blended at the Steenbergs purpose built factory in rural North Yorkshire. Steenbergs also offers a wide range of loose leaf tea including a range of herbal and chai teas - the majority of which are organic. More recently Steenbergs has also become well known for its range of baking extracts particularly its organic Fairtrade vanilla extract and organic rose water. Steenbergs blends and packs all its products and its focus is on artisan quality with small batches. Steenbergs continues to be run by the founders - Sophie and Axel Steenberg, so no anonymous call centres or faceless organisation. The two of them are still very hands on working with their dedicated team to source, blend and pack the
