Yesterday I had the absolute joy of attending a Zimbabwean traditional wedding celebration, and what a beautiful reminder it was. ❤️🇿🇼

The culture. The music. The dancing. The laughter. The sense of community.

When we talk about living well with diabetes, we often talk about HbA1c, food, medication and exercise and yes, those things matter.

But wellbeing is bigger than numbers.

Connection matters. Movement matters. Laughter matters. Feeling part of a community matters. And sometimes movement doesn’t have to feel like “exercise” at all… sometimes it’s simply dancing with people you love. 💃🏾❤️

Yesterday was full of joy and I wanted to share a little of that joy here too.

Type 3c diabetes? What is that? That’s a question people always ask. It’s becoming more prevalent yet still unknown. Here’s a little simple explanation to throw more light to this

We give news that changes someone’s whole life and then we are expected to move on to the next patient like nothing happened. I guess “that’s the job and that’s the oath”?

But nobody talks about what that does to the people saying it. The highs, the lows, the ones we carry home and never mention again. Some of us are walking around with quiet ptsd from doing our jobs properly.

We are not meant to fall apart every time we deliver hard news, that’s kind of the oath we signed? But where’s the respite? Is there actually help for the people helping everyone else, or are we just expected to bottle it forever?

Would love to hear from anyone else in this field. You’re not alone in this.

One slice of cake didn't get you here... and one healthy meal won't fix everything. 👀

One of the biggest myths about healthy living is believing that one "bad" meal ruins all your progress.

It doesn't.

Your health is shaped by the choices you make consistently, not occasionally.

Skip the guilt. Forget the extremes. Focus on building habits you can stick with, because small steps taken every day will always beat quick fixes.

Your body speaks... are you listening?

We often dismiss persistent symptoms as stress, a busy schedule, or simply getting older.
But your body has a remarkable way of telling you when something isn't quite right.
The challenge is that those whispers are easy to ignore.
Listening to your body doesn't mean assuming the worst—it means paying attention to changes that persist and seeking the right advice when needed.
Your health is one of the few things you can't afford to put on hold.

💬 What's one health habit you're committing to this week? Tell us in the comments.

Did you know?

Not everyone experiences diabetes the same way.
Some people notice constant thirst. Others feel tired all the time. Some experience blurry vision or frequent trips to the toilet.
And some people have no obvious symptoms at all.
That's why comparing your health journey to someone else's can be misleading.
Understanding your own body is one of the most important steps you can take towards better health.

💬 What surprised you most about diabetes when you first learned about it? Let us know in the comments.

How many times have you said, "I'm just tired"? 👀

Meet Aira.

She thought it was just a busy week. Then another. And another.

She blamed work, stress, and lack of sleep—never imagining her body was trying to tell her something.

The truth is, we often explain away symptoms instead of understanding them.

Your body has a way of getting your attention. The question is... are you listening?

💬 Have you ever ignored a symptom because you thought it was "nothing"? Share your experience in the comments.

Being afraid and doing nothing about it results to nothing but possible complications. We won’t want people to live with diabetes but we are not oblivious of the complications it causes when nothing is done about it. Work work your clinical team and get the help you require

"I don't eat sugar."

We've all heard it... or maybe even said it ourselves. 😅

The truth is, sugar isn't only found in sweets.

It can also be hiding in everyday foods and drinks, which is why understanding what you're eating is just as important as avoiding obvious sugary treats.

Healthy choices aren't about perfection,.they're about awareness and balance.

The more you understand your food, the better equipped you are to make choices that support your health.

💬 Be honest... which one would be hardest for you to give up: 🥤 drinks, 🍪 biscuits, or 🍰 cake?

As a clinician, I see how quickly we jump to conclusions based on appearance.

Grey hair is not a diagnosis, and it’s not an invitation for judgement either.

Grey hair isn’t an invitation for comments.
It can be genetics, stress, health, or just life.

Let’s normalise asking less and understanding more.
