The HPV vaccine is saving lives.

New research by Queen Mary University of London and Cancer Research UK shows deaths have fallen sharply since school-age girls began being offered it in 2008, and around 200 lives have been saved in England so far thanks to the vaccine.

The vaccine protects against high-risk HPV, a virus that can lead to cervical cancer and some other cancers.

Both girls and boys can get protection from high-risk HPV by having the HPV vaccination in their teenage years. It not only protects against cervical cancer, but other types of cancer too.

You can help protect your child by giving consent for them to have their vaccination when invited.

And remember: cervical screening is still important, even if you’ve had the HPV vaccine.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨The next resident Doctor strike is planned for 7am 15th June - 7am 19th June. As a result we may have less availability for same day appointments on these dates.

➡️We therefore strongly encourage anyone that can contact us online to use Accurx.
Submissions can also be made on behalf of a relative or someone you care for, with their consent.

🟢Accurx is manned by a senior clinical team based at the surgery during its opening hours 7am-6.30pm. It is not operated by AI or technology assisted - all responses are directly from our team members.
We can assist you with advice, referral, medication, issuing treatment, arranging appointments & referrals. We aim to respond as quickly as possible and usually on the same day.

💊Pharmacy First can offer treatments for several minor illness conditions.

Community pharmacies can offer treatment and, when appropriate, some prescription medicine, for seven common conditions without patients needing to see a GP.

Anyone can get sunburnt, regardless of their skin tone, although some people are at higher risk than others. To enjoy the sun safely, think 1, 2, 3:

1. Seek shade, especially between 11-3 in the UK
2. Cover up with clothing, a hat and UV protection sunglasses
3. Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and 4 or 5 stars

We've partnered with NIVEA for the last 14 years to help spread the message of how to enjoy the sun safely ☀️

Dementia isn’t one-size-fits-all and neither are its symptoms.

Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies are among the most common types – and each affects the brain in different ways.

From memory loss and confusion to changes in behaviour, language or movement, the symptoms can vary widely depending on the type of dementia.

This guide highlights some of the common symptoms linked to each illness, but it’s also important to remember that no two people experience dementia in the same way.

By recognising the different signs, including these lesser-known symptoms, we can spot changes earlier and help more people access an early diagnosis.
