Managed to gather some Linden flowers yesterday!
It was a very good stretching exercise too.
Lime trees (Tilia cordata) line the drive up to The Walled Garden, but are big and difficult to reach.
Full of flowers at the moment which are collected along with the pale green bracts. I have picked to dry for Herbal tea. Benefits are it can promote sleep and ease anxiety, as a cold or mild headache relief, its anti spasmodic and helps with digestive issues. And anti inflammatory easing muscle cramps due to it containing Quercitin. It also smells divine too.. 💚🌿

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) is now flowering on the herb Garden.
Clary sage is a statuesque plant with the flowers growing to at least 5ft in some cases..
Clary sage is used in essential oils to promote calmness and ease tension, it also helps with PMS symptoms alleviating menstrual cramps.
(Avoid if pregnant)
It has also been used to flavour alcoholic drinks including Vermouth and wines.
Personally not a fan of the smell of the plant but it makes a lovely scented essential oil.

And growing in the work area of the Garden Nipplewort (Lapsana communis) Seen as a w**d but once used for The treatment of Breast ulcers and cracked ni***es.. Also edible, leaves can be eaten like spinach.. **dsareflowerstoo 💚🌿

Not much done on the Herb garden today. Been busy planting out Patty Pans and Caucasian Spinach. But On the Herb Garden the Rue ( Ruta graveolens) also know as Herb of Grace is in flower, and visited by a bee just as I was about to take the photo.
Rue has been used as a herb for centuries, and has been used for many things. Its folklore is just as fascinating too..
Used as a herb for culinary purposes in many countries including Greece to flavour Grappa, in Italy dipped in batter or added to omelette. It shouldn’t be eaten when in pregnancy or if you have Liver problems. It is thought by Pliny if consumed with Oleander would be an antidote to Venomous snake bite. Used in Nosegays and as incense due to its aroma. And it is mentioned in the Bible and in Shakespeare..
