Today we went to the All Ireland Fleadh in Belfast. Iโll admit I was nervous thinking about it, even after seeing all the positive social media posts this week. While I lived in the city for 12 years and never had any bother, I was still a little apprehensive going to such a public celebration of Irish culture in the city, not to mention bringing my son through the crowds. From we landed we bumped into many familiar faces, then stopping to see dancers, buskers, musicians, all ages colours and creeds. There was something there for everyone, it was so inclusive. Volunteers were amazing help & so friendly. I was emotional walking to City Hall with the Gig Rig placed outside with traditional Irish musicians on the stage. It was amazing, our culture on display in the city centre. I remember feeling the need to hide my โfull Irishnessโ going into the city in the past, not today, it was all welcome and safe, and I was emotional thinking how far weโve come as a society. So hats off to every single person involved in making this happen through whatever role and contribution you played. We are all benefiting massively ๐ And for anyone else feeling the fear about something, notice it, acknowledge it, let it pass and be brave and do the thing anyway ๐๐ you might just be in for a surprise ๐๐
