Some of you who follow me daily maybe a little bored about this topic but I did wish somebody told me this at least 6 years ago so...
💚 Could your pelvic floor be asking for some attention?
Pelvic floor problems aren’t always obvious, and they can affect both women and men. Sometimes the signs are things we simply get used to and think are “normal”.
Some symptoms to look out for include:
🔹 Bladder or bowel leakage
🔹 A sudden, difficult-to-control urge to urinate or have a bowel movement
🔹 Waking during the night to urinate (nocturia)
🔹 Feeling that your bladder or bowel hasn't completely emptied
🔹 A feeling of heaviness, pressure or a bulge in the va**nal area
🔹 Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs)
🔹 Haemorrhoids or needing to strain to empty your bowel
🔹 Pain with tampons or during sexual activity
🔹 Pain or discomfort around the pelvic/saddle area, va**na or back passage
⚠️ One symptom doesn't necessarily mean you have pelvic floor dysfunction. These symptoms can have different causes, so persistent or troublesome symptoms are worth discussing with your GP or a qualified pelvic-health physiotherapist.
And this is exactly why pelvic floor health deserves more conversation. ❤️
Your pelvic floor plays an important role in bladder and bowel control, support and everyday function — yet many people never learn what the warning signs are.
