When life is busy, so are our minds. Being able to let go of all that and rest in stillness therefore becomes an essential tool.
The art of meditation is the ability to empty your mind at will and remain open.
This is not the same as having no thoughts, it's about letting thoughts pass without picking them up, examining them and then consciously having thoughts about your thoughts.
The mind worries, that by not listening to your thoughts, you'll ceast to exist and it'll "all go wrong".
It's so convinced about this many people don't even try to be meditate, they just say it's impossible or they've tried and they can't do it.
Meditation for a lot of people, takes practice. It's a bit like getting fit enough to run a 5k. Most of us would need to start a training regime to build up to that much running - but if you're already practised at running, 5k is going to be a lot easier.
The same is true of meditation. For a lot people, building up our meditation abilities takes:

- coaching to learn the method
- practice to build up competency
- the confidence to be able to apply it anytime, anywhere (this comes with practice).

But the reason I'm so passionate about meditation is that our lives these days are busy. We may be juggling multiple things like work, family, finances, community projects, health, relationships and hobbies.
In a crisis (ours or someone else's), our thinking is likely to be even more active as we try to figure out a way to fix things, which is why being able to find the off button is so crucial.
Most people don't know how to do that, they don't even believe that for them it is possible.
Are you one of the few that do?

New beginnings, direction changes and life satisfaction depends on us consciously choosing and taking steps towards the life we want.
If we don't do that, others will choose for us and you may not like what they choose!
The seeds we plant now may come to fruition immediately, the next day, a week from now, or many years from now - but it will happen.
In my experience, people are so busy firefighting the life they have created for themselves previously, they feel unable to take the time and effort to change or invest in the future.
This creates a downward spiral that affects our health and wellbeing, and the health and wellbeing of the people we interact with.
Therefore, it is neither selfish or a wasted act taking time to listen to your hearts desires and externalise them with a Vision Board - it is a very smart and effective choice.
At our 28th June Vision Board workshop the session is guided by an expert at listening to your true self, overcoming obstacles and materialising dreams. You'll be invited to complete a worksheet before attending to get clear on which areas of your life you'd like to make changes and what you would like to retain. The venue is first class, including all the art supplies you need, yummy coffee and snacks and a beautiful outdoor space to enhance creativity.
The whole event will be a very effective way to improve your health and wellbeing in a way that is relevant and pertinent to you. The results will shape your future in a profound way, and give you a springboard for making dreams happen.
We have just 5 places remaining and a wonderful, caring and passionate group of people forming. Availability is on a first come, first served basis. So I would book now if you would like to attend!

Do you want to dream about it, or do it? Dreams are lovely, they even had a positive impact on your physiology - but doing things impacts you in a much deeper way.
All of our life has started as a dream, intentional or not (the "unintentional" ones are in our unconscious mind). What we put our energy and awareness on will determine what we experience. If we dream about health and harmony, that's where we'll head. If we worry about sickness and pain, that's what we'll get.
So if you're ready to turn your dreams in reality and revision your world, join us at our 28th June Vision Board Workshop.
In it, you will be given the chance to get clear on your dreams, flesh them out with other participants to ensure that they are truly what you want before finding pictures and quotes that represent your vision and crafting your own board.
Before the workshop, you'll be given a form to complete, to start the creative process. During the workshop you will be taught how to work with the board on a daily basis to help bring it into reality. After the workshop, you put those dreams into action by taking steps towards the outcomes you desire.
Our January participants have done a great job in creating the shifts in their life they would like to see. Are you ready to do the same?

People can go their whole life believing their feelings of hurt, anger, fear and resentment were caused by another, but this is simply not true!
Whether we realise it or not, we get to decide how we feel - though it may take some consciousness to be that way.
Let me give you an example.
Person A tells person B they don't like their behaviour. Person B feels scared and angry and vows never to engage with person A again.
Person B may feel like they've solved the problem, but what if they bump into person A again? They will likely feel scared and angry all over again - even if it's decades later.
These are perfectly typical behaviours and most people wouldn't challenge them.
However, what if you knew that you get to choose how you feel?
Most feelings come from our thoughts, many of which are unconscious - which means we're not consciously aware of them. We are however, aware of the consequences of them - our emotions / feelings and these can be uncomfortable.
Beliefs like "I am powerless", "others are more important than me", "my opinions don't matter", "adults are correct (which implies children are wrong)", "I will be punished if I don't do as I'm told" run like scripts in our unconscious mind, and shape the way we react and behave.
These scripts are formed in our early years as we are drawing conclusions about life, how the world operates and how to get our core needs met. They then become the filter through which we see all of our life experiences until.....we challenge them.
What if we were to look at those beliefs and flesh out how true they were? For something to be true it has to be true all the time, not just some of the time.
Are adults ALWAYS correct? Am I truly powerless? Are others always more important than me? These beliefs may FEEL true, but they're not ALWAYS true.
They're fiction, not facts.
And that's when the liberation comes.
We can rewrite our reactions past events this time with the truth that we are powerful, just like everyone else, we are all equally as important, we have a right to have an opinion, adults aren't always correct (what is "correct" anyway?) and if we get punished because we don't do as we're told, we're not a bad person - we are living authentically according to our values and as an adult yourself, you may find your proud of yourself for that.
Reclaiming our power to choose how we feel about certain events frees us up from having to avoid certain people, places and things. It gives us our sovereignty back and promises a brighter future.
My go to technique to leverage all of these learning's is Mind Detox. It challenges us to rethink our experiences and reprogramme our reactions to new and more healthy ones. It's fast, and if you're ready to do the work, effective. I love it, because it's simple and helpful.

A common misconception I come across almost every day is that joy is something we have to actively do in order for us to be joyful.
When I was younger, I associated the word joy with gospel choirs. I made the connection that joy was a result of singing and moving, not that being joyful made you want to move and sing.
As a result, like most people, when I was feeling depressed and down the idea that I had to do something to be joyful was beyond me - I just didn't have it in me.
And that is where I was wrong, so so wrong.
Joy is our true nature. Our essence is joy and therefore to experience joy we simply have to be ourselves.
There is nothing we have to DO to experience joy, we simply have to stop doing the things that prevent ourselves from experiencing joy.
This totally flips our ideas about mental health on its head. We don't need to do anything to overcome depression (the antithesis of joy) we have to undo what makes us depressed.
If we focus on our failings, we're likely to feel pretty anxious and depressed.
If we learn to loosen our focus and open ourselves up - those same thoughts about our failings might still be there - but they're contextualised with all the other thoughts we have and just become part of the noise I would encourage everyone to pay no attention to.
When we let go of focusing on our thoughts and experience our true nature instead, we naturally experience, along with a whole host of other soothing, calming and wholesome feelings - joy.
What's more, it's important to know that joy NEVER leaves you. No matter how depressed you are, joy is still there, you're simply not paying attention to it. It's like having a thick layer of clouds between you and the sun. The sun is always shining, but sometimes there can be some weather that gets in the way. Knowing that no matter how thick the clouds are (aka grief, depression, trauma) we are still joyful at our core takes us straight back to who we are.
This process is called ENLIGHTENMENT. For most of us it probably sounds like a unachievable feat, but actually enlightenment is pretty simple if you know the truth of who you are.
Enlightenment is the process of letting go of thoughts, beliefs and fears and having a direct experience of yourself. You learn to focus more on you you are (the silence) over the noise (thinking). It is the reason for the practice of Reiki, and the foundation of the practice of meditation.
Kids and pets are naturally joyful because they haven't become bogged down in their thoughts and beliefs.
As adults, we have the capacity to be the same.
So my advice is, the next time you feel depressed, look within for your natural state of joy. Even if you don't think it is there, know that it is and that let joy be more important than your depression.

The biggest reason I see people not getting the results they want is a disconnection to who they are.
We may say we want to lose weight, find a partner, improve our income or start a new hobby - but without the passion of our three brains - heart, head and gut - driving us forwards the idea is just a whisper, not reality.
Embracing something new requires letting go of the current version of ourselves, so our heart really needs to want it and we must be willing to listen to that.
Creating something new requires our head brain to figure out ways to achieve that desire. This is our head brain's favourite task, and something that feels lovely and authentic when it is backed by the heart.
Once there is a plan, and the heart agrees it is congruent with our desires, it's our gut brain that gives us the impetus to move forwards. It is the energy of the gut that fuels us. Without this input our ideas don't go anywhere, which may feel safe and familiar - but also frustrating and stagnant.
It therefore requires a connection to all of us to live out our dreams - our heart, head, gut led by our inner guidance.
On 28th June I'll be running another Vision Board Workshop to create a safe space for people to connect to themselves and honour their dreams. It's perfect for anyone that wants help to make their dreams reality and has a passion for living a purposeful and rich experience.
We have a handful of places available on this 5-star manifestation experience with other passionate and purposeful people. The workshop is based in an art studio and coffee house in Rotherfield, East Sussex and is limited to 10 attendees.
Let me know in the comments below if you would like more details.
