Gaia Yin Yoga

Gaia Yin Yoga If you’re looking for a relaxing yoga class in Rugby, these floor-based yin yoga sessions are designed to help you find inner peace and improve wellbeing.

My name is Rachel, I’m a yin yoga teacher, qualified in June 2025. I’ve been practising yin yoga for 5 years and it has helped me to recover from chronic illness. Practising yin yoga has helped me to take time for myself to calm my nervous system and rebalance. I am an active person who enjoys walking, cycling, running, swimming, hatha/vinyasa yoga and pilates. I used to be on the go all of the ti

me and found it difficult to switch off when it was time to sleep. I have learnt to balance activities with periods of rest and recovery. Yin yoga has formed part of my practice daily as well as meditation and breathwork.

I've just completed a course called Applied Polyvagal Theory for Yoga Professionals.
I learnt about Polyvagal Theory as devised by Stephen Porges and the correlation with Ayurvedic medicine.
Polyvagal Theory and Ayurveda teach about the different tendencies in humans, states of mind and how actions/habits can be used to change nervous system states.
This course reinforced how important it is to spend time with yourself to notice what is going on at any particular time, to be present and allow things to pass rather than pushing through.
My weekly yin classes are here for those of you who want to dedicate an hour of yoga practice to yourself to spend time mindfully. We practice with ahimsa, which means non violence, no force or effort needed.
Yin stretches are held in stillness for 3-4 mins to allow the body and the deep connective tissues to adjust and reset and the mind to anchor.
Benefits include energy recovery, healing and better sleep.

Looking for a little moment of calm this weekend? 🌸

As part of the Flower and Talent Festival at St Georges Church in Hillmorton. I’m running a gentle, 30-minute yin yoga taster class this Saturday at 10:30 am in the Corin Room.

If you’ve never tried yin before, it is a very quiet, slow-paced practice. Rather than a sweaty workout, we stay in gentle shapes for a few minutes at a time to help create space in the body and quiet the mind.🧘✨

Details:
No previous yoga experience or flexibility required.
Floor-based: The entire session is on the ground, so you just need to be able to sit and lie down comfortably on the floor.
What to bring: Please bring your own yoga mat and a blanket for support. (I only have 2 spare mats to borrow, so let me know early if you need one!)

Cost: Tickets are free to book, but I am asking for a suggested £5 donation on the day which goes to the church. ⛪

Only 8 spaces: Register and read more about yin yoga here:

Why do we use bolsters, breathwork and gentle supported inversions in yin yoga?

Here's a clue, it's to do with calming the nervous system. By creating a sense of deep relaxation this helps us to recover, heal and build resilience.
