Our GPs don't want to rush you, and don't want to keep you waiting for your appointment any longer than necessary.
However, they only have ten minutes allocated to them for each appointment.
In ten minutes they:-
*will listen to your concerns;
*carry out observations, if required, such as take your blood pressure, check your pulse rate, listen to your heart and/or your chest;
*have a chat with you about your problem and decide upon a plan;
*issue an electronic prescription; checking prescribing guidelines, and whether there are any interactions with any of your other medication;
*send a task (an electronic email attached to your medical record) to our Practice Secretary to ask them to organise a referral to another Service / Team.
*Type up their consultation notes.
This is why we ask that you only bring one problem to your appointment.
We want you to discuss all your symptoms.
But if you have 2 or more separate problems, please book a separate appointment.
If you are kept waiting for your appointment, it is likely that an earlier patient has discussed more than one problem, meaning that the whole clinic will run later than planned.
Please do not be upset if a GP tells you that they are only able to discuss one problem with you, and that you will need to book another appointment.
This is because they want to give your problem their thorough attention in the time allocated.
Thank you for your understanding, and your continued support.
