A lot of the people I speak with prior to us working with them tell me of their goals… perhaps the way they visualise themselves looking, how they want to feel on a daily basis, or the examples they want to set to their kids…
But when asked if they could be more specific about what they want to achieve and when.. they look at me as though I have 3 heads
In my opinion, it’s essential to know exactly what you want
It’s important that you are completely clear on your desired destination… they idea of reaching it must excite you
The reason I believe that this is so important is because it then allows you to plan your route
It allows you to take out your metaphorical map and compass and plan your journey carefully
If you were to be dropped into the middle of nowhere with no idea about your precise location and destination, you’d be lost!
It’s the same with your goals, your dreams, your life
If you have a precise idea of your current location and your target, it’s very easy to reverse engineer a route that works, and construct a route card with accurate compass bearings, distances, timings, pace notes, description of terrain etc
This is essentially what we do together when we start working with one another
We discuss your 3, 5 and 10 years goals before breaking them down into annual targets
Annual targets are broken into quarterly goals
Quarterly goals broken down into 28 day plans
28 day plans broken down into 7 day missions
I do this with people that have physique goals
Strength goals
Endurance / event goals
Goals relating to their lifestyle, their health, the way they want to be around their kids, their family, what they want out of their business and more!…
If you want success in anything you must plan
You must have direction
And as I’ve said before… the biggest cure for anxiety, overwhelm and procrastination is clarity
Clarity comes from getting this s**t done
