Protect yourself this winter with your Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations at Herdman Chemists.

📅 Starting from 1st October

✅ FREE NHS FLU VACCINATION available for eligible patients, including:

• Aged 65 and over
• Pregnant women
• People living in long-stay residential care homes
• Carers or those in receipt of Carer’s Allowance
• Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
• Eligible frontline social care workers
• People experiencing homelessness
• Chronic respiratory disease
• Chronic heart disease
• Chronic kidney disease
• Chronic liver disease
• Chronic neurological disease
• Diabetes
• Immunosuppression
• Problems with the spleen or no spleen
• Morbid obesity (BMI 40+)

✅ FREE NHS COVID-19 VACCINATION available for eligible patients, including:

• Aged 75 and over
• Residents in care homes for older adults
• People with a weakened immune system due to a health condition or treatment

📢 Change to Opening Hours – High Street Branch

From Monday 3 August 2026, our Herdman Chemists High Street Branch will no longer open at 8am.

Due to the ongoing financial pressures facing community pharmacies, our revised opening hours will be:

Monday to Friday: 9am–5pm
Saturday: 9am–12pm
Sunday: Closed

Our Health Centre Branch will continue to open as usual from 8:30am until 6pm Monday to Friday.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank all our patients and customers for their continued understanding and support.

🦠 New FREE NHS Meningitis B Vaccination Service

Starting 20th July 2026, Herdman Chemists will be offering free NHS Meningitis B vaccinations to eligible young people and students.

You may be eligible if you:

✅ Were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008

OR

✅ Were born on or after 21 July 2001 and are starting undergraduate university in autumn 2026

OR

✅ Were born on or after 21 July 2001 and will be living in eligible further-education accommodation or halls of residence for the first time in autumn 2026

The vaccination course normally requires two doses at least 28 days apart. Eligibility, identification and previous vaccination history will be checked at your appointment.

There has been a power cut in Ryhope Customer Service Centre and we currently cannot access computers in Herdman Chemists Health Centre Branch. The national grid have said we should be up and running by 5pm. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
